I've got a new internet connection at home from Alice and I need several pc's to access the internet. Of course it makes no sense to wire up the flat so it has to be wireless. As I already have a DSL modem from Alice I don't need another one so in principle I should be fine with a plain ole access point which can be reached from all the pc's. A router would maybe give me a few more options like VoIp or better bandwidth sharing, but I don't really know if it's worth buying a router or would it be just ok with the AP. So what are your opinions about it?

I just don't want to start a new thread, so, another related question. I have this AEG Ventura Comfort 2 handset which is a DECT phone; which according to google means Digital Enhanced Cordless Phone. I tried plugging it to my phone line but of course it doesn't work. I tried pluging it directly on the isdn splitter and also using the isdn box, it wouldn't work on any. Is this DECT thing compatible with ISDN? Can I use the handset as an analog phone? Or I just simply have to buy a new phone stop fooling around? Any info on that greatly appreciated.

Q. Do you have a analogue or ISDN telephone line from Alice?
AEG Ventura Comfort2 is a "Analogue" DECT phone. So it will not work with a ISDN port. It should work with a analogue port if connectivity is OK.

I have an ISDN line from Alice. I've tried to plug the phone directly to the splitter, but I don't know if it's supposed to work like that. Maybe the sensible thing to do is to get an ISDN phone.

You can buy a ISDN phone or use a ISDN-analog adapter like
this with which you can connect 3 analog devices from a single ISDN line.

Isn't that the same as the ISDN splitter? I have a siemens box which has a TAE connector to plug in the cable which comes from the regular phone box, then it has another plug for connecting to the DSL modem and then three telephone plugs coded with NFN from which the F should work with the phone. I've tried already connecting the phone directly to that but without any luck.

F port of NFN will work, but only with a ISDN phone. The splitter does not have a inbuilt ISDN-analog converter. Either you need to buy a ISDN phone or a device as above. Probably cheaper alternative converters are available.

Isn't TT a nice place? Not only I got some clarification from minga on how to get the phone working, but a couple of minutes later I got a pm from Tom17 offering to sell me an ISDN-Analogue converter. Didn't even had to go out there on the wild ole interwebby and start looking around, it just poped up magically. Thanks to you both again.
