A girl, originally reported to be no older than 15, but now believed to be 20, was found Saturday, hanged from a maple tree in the parking lot of a plastic factory in Solln. No suicide note has been found and more than a hundred police are now working the case.

I'll post more as the news comes in on the radio.

The girll was bereft of all personal belongings (purse, cell phone, watch etc.); according to the Süddeutsche Zeitung (German article) she had not been sexually attacked. There is no missing person of her description in the Munich police files. This was around the corner from where the Schoenstatt-Movement had a meeting last weekend. The police are investigating in that direction but have no definite leads at the moment.

The girl's been identified now as a 20 year old dentist's assistant from Erding who lives in Munich with her boyfriend during the week.
the boyfriend is away on a business trip at the moment, the girl wanted to stay in Munich at the weekend as she was going to a concert with her friends.
feel very sorry for her mum who identified her.

Urrrrgh, there is sure to be a gruesome and/or tragic history to this. Poor girl, poor family.

Hopefully this doesn't lead to a string of hanging jokes...

I too hope that there won't be any tasteless, inappropriate and tacky jokes associated with this thread.

Anyway, so you know the one about the blonde trying to hang herself? Well she was sick of hearing genau/not having Marmite/not speaking german/etc. So she goes to hang herself, well a few minutes later a few TTers walk by and tell her that she is doing it wrong, she should be hanging from her neck, not her arms. She replys, "well I couldn't breath".

update. results have shown she was intoxicated. it's not known with whom she spent Friday evening, nor to which concert she intended to attend on Saturday.

Now that the police know who she is and what her plans were, it shouldn't take too long to find out how she ended where she did.

Wouldn't the police be able to tell by the type and position of the knot in her jacket if she did it herself or was hanged? Or do I watch too much CSI?

Police are calling the circumstances "suspicious", according to the Süddeutsche Zeitung. Alexandra Liebl (that's her name) left her parents' home in Erding on Friday evening, saying that she was meeting a friend to go to a concert on Saturday. She went to the Kunstpark fairly often, the police is trying to find out if she was there on Friday.
Passers-by had seen a group of young people close to the spot where Alexandra was found early Saturday morning but attributed them to the meeting mentioned above.
Her parents refuse to even entertain the possiblity that she committed suicide. Today would have been her 20th birthday.

Latest development: A woman saw her as late as 8am on Saturday in Forstenried, the police are assuming that she took the U3 there and then walked to or towards Solln. She had a large brown corduroy shoulder bag with her at the time which was missing when she was found around 11.30am. Anyone who has information is asked to contact the police. She was dressed in a short denim skirt, sneakers in a black and white pattern, a brown and white sleeveless top and a black, long-sleeved velvet jacket.

The evidence is indicating suicide after all. Alexandra was in the Fischerstüberl Saturday morning (4am-7am), dancing her ass off and then bursting into tears, hardly able to calm down. Typical bipolar/depressive behavior, according to the Süddeutsche Zeitung. The witness who saw her in Forstenried recalls her walking unsteadily, she was seen app. 9am close to some stables only a short distance away from the parking lot where she was found.

Her cell phone, by the way, has been located in a different part of town, her shoulder bag and its contents are still missing.

She is being buried today, four days after her would-be 20th birthday.

OH, so this is why all the police and the helicopter were out in the Naturschutzgebiet in Solln. My boyfriend and I were wondering. He went and asked the police if it was alright to be there (you would have thought they were on a manhunt) and they just said It was fine, there was no murderer running around.
