Here's a thought a few of us had yesterday whilst sampling one or two Maß.

It's a TT photo competition.

Open to anyone with a digital camera or even a polaroid.

Format: Meet in town somewhere and we all erase our memory cards.

You then have a two or three hour free-for-all to snap away.

Then meet afterwards at a pre-determined pub, where we all download the piccies to a "chosen laptop".

When all pictures are downloaded we all have five minutes to review our pictures and choose one which will be submitted to the competition.

All chosen pictures will be posted anonomously annonomously under one username as a poll. So the general TT audience choose the picture they prefer.

Is anyone else interested?

Sounds like a great idea!! I've really enjoyed viewing the pics on TT. The ones from the outing on Friday in the park were fantastic. What kind of camera were they taken with I wonder? I think I have a hidden talent of photography that I want to try to (no pun intended) develop. So the first step is getting a great camera. Any suggestions on which camera to buy would be most welcomed? Thanks.

I'm looking forward to viewing and voting on the pics in the competition.
NOFXmike
uncle nick: I got a report from my camera yesterday, it had won $20. Not bad.
Bandu
Is there a way for ppl outside Munich to take part in this? huh.gif I am interested too.
Grinner
sorry, this is being done this way so there is little or no chance of picture manipulaton!

Come to Munich for the weekend!
pootle
Hey smile.gif

A few other things. This competition may be a one off thing or it might happen a few times over the summer.

Another idea was to make each competition a specific theme i.e. - Water Features, Animals (all head to the zoo), Reflections, Sport?, Beer, Trachten etc etc

To stop people from working out what to bring for each competition, we would randomly draw a theme out of the pot at the start point.
(or preshooting)

I would suggest a few competitions...

a ) Voted for by TT'Ers
b ) Voted for by fellow competitors
c ) Voted for by a TT artist or qualified person?

If anyone outside of Munich wants to travel down for the day to take part, no problems with that. I'm not sure about making this any bigger than that right now.
Grinner
How about the first photoshoot on or around Mayday!

"Maypoles of Munich" theme or sommat like?

Why not one competition with several 'awards'? wink.gif
mulah
I'll add 'count me in too', though I may not be around in about six weeks (small matter of giving birth!).

So I hope this won't be just a one off, it's a great idea.

Keep us posted!

Carm Darling...

Did you read the first post?? tongue.gif
Carm
yes, I did, but Pootles's post came after that one, on suggestions of voting, you can vote with those attending or with all of those on TT.
Grinner
Ok...

So to revive this...

Sunday 6 May.

11.00 ... Meet at Starbucks in Theatinerstr (nr Opera House)

Clear/ format cards...

Meet back at 15.00 at Der Pschorr

Transfer pictures to Pootles Craptop...

Drink beer and go home...

Please could you reply here if you wish to participate...

G
pootle
You submit one picture to me smile.gif and I will then post them on TT. (sunday evening)

There is no prize at the moment,

there will be a general open voting competition where all TT members can vote for their favourite picture.
there will be a closed voting competition, where the photographers can vote for their favourite picture.

Photos can be submitted on compact flash, or SD cards.
Tom17
I like the sound of this. I might try to make it with my p&s.
Grinner
I have a multi card reader...I will bring that along
Iain & Siobhan
Count me in, Looking forward to it. Do we have a file size limit, can we tweak in P'shop??
pootle
no tweaking. file size limit is not a problem. this is about photography as it happens - capturing moments.
belgianpraline
Sounds like a great idea! But I wonder how the lot of us are going to choose their favourite picture from the 30 or pics they've just spent hours taking on only one single craptop IN 5 MINUTES. Is this realistic? I'm in anyway! wink.gif
Grinner
You know when you see a picture you like, it jumps out at you...

However, we do need a "Theme" for the day in question.
mulah

Phew, was thinking I'd be disqualified before starting, on the grounds of using a (crappy) xD card.
belgianpraline
How about something like "Summer in the City"? That would cover loads of sub-themes. Any better suggestions? I think themes like water, birds, feet or whatever are much too restrictive...
Carm
QUOTE (Grinner @ Apr 27 2007, 3:37 pm) *
However, we do need a "Theme" for the day in question.

maybe on the 6th the TTers not doing photography have til say 10 am to pm Pootle/or the main organizing person with some themes and one will be selected.
belgianpraline
So, everyone, who is chosing the theme and when? rolleyes.gif
pootle
So far suggestions for themes are :

1. Reflections
2. Water features
3. Bavarian Tradition

Touch Munich are also playing Vienna on the sunday, so maybe we should make it a sport photography competition?

Any other suggestions?

Poots
pootle
Weather isnt looking too good for sunday...

sarabyrd
I was thinking of "Light" but the weather is sorta scratching that. Then again, the challenge is that much greater.
Carm
Bavarian Traditions is a good one, but should't that be annouced the day of?
Keydeck

Snap a photo of some lederhosen clad dude reflected in a puddle from the pissings of rain and you'll have all bases covered.
Genie
There's light in rain. All the more competition when it's harder to capture.
pootle
Right,

Due to the weather, we're still gonna do this, but will shorten the competition.

Start at 1pm at Starbucks at Theatinerstr

Finish 3pm at Pschorr (schrannenhalle)

Theme will be announced Sunday at Starbucks (to stop you all snapping before the start point!)

If you are joining, please PM or post here to confirm!

Right thats it for now. See you Sunday

Thanks

Phil
The Arc
It's a shame I can't personally make it this Sunday to join you, this sounds good fun.

If the idea and event is successful, then I could offer The Arc as a finish point for the next one.
We could look at the possibility of connecting my laptop to the projector and showing all entries on the big pull-down screen.
The Arc would also be willing to offer a prize of free meal and drink to the winner.
