Why don't you or someone announce the theme on Sunday around 10 pm, that will save people coming in to Munich (takes me an hour) and then deciding they don't want to join in. I for one don't want to do Bavarian Traditions and would have come along in vain. How about it? After all, we can't take pics beforehand, since our cards have to be empty! So how could we cheat? Unless ... you're doing it by envelope, someone picks a theme from a selection. At least then there'll be more choice than the 3 themes whatsisname chose or whatsername... Can we veto Bavarian traditions please? dry.gif
belgianpraline
I mean of course, announce it on this thread! On Sunday at 10 am.
DDBug
I want to join in!!!
pootle
I had already thought Bavarian Traditions would be quite hard to do on sunday, unless theres of course a specific traditional event going on in town.

Realy I am up for choosing from an envelope Sunday at 11am. But if we discount bavarian traditions, we still need a 3rd option... any suggestions??
Carm
since its in the city center-
mixture of old and new?
Munich's wonderful Arcitecture
Hidden Treasures (photos from some of the small side streets and small alcoves/hofs)
pootle
I like hidden treasures... keep the suggestions coming in smile.gif
Carm
interesting signs (in the city center some of the shops signs are so cool)
Window shopping (might be hard if its really sunny)
Empty places (places like Marienpl and Viktualien markt are empty on sundays- and you really see the buildings)
pootle
one of the other things that has always instrested me is whats about the shop fronts...

just look above the neon signs, and explore the architecture on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors
Grinner
People...?
Carm
there are some great buildings all over this city, one of my fav places is Prinzeregentenpl- the buildings from the ground to the roofs are just incredible.
I will think of more ideas tomorrow at the office and post them.
I am looking forward to seeing the photos on sunday.
Will there be a set time to vote? Not sure if that has been discussed, and am too lazy to go back an read the thread.
pootle
Voting will happen when I get around on sunday evening/monday monring to posting the main thread.
Grinner
So who is actually coming along?

Sari
sad.gif Sorry, I can't make this one...my body is against sudden movements right now sad.gif
jwadleigh
I just read about this! Darn it! I am joining next time - it sounds like a lot of fun!! Please send an announcement to us all and let's make this a monthly competition! smile.gif
DDBug
It was fun - even thought everyone was more professional than me, I had a great time. Good group of people.
NOFXmike
Shit, I missed it! *Sigh*

Everyone should enter in this contest as well: www.iodpc.com

A tourist on one of my tours organized it, you can win a couple thousand euros, and the winner supposedly gets a free trip to Cyrpus too, according to him, though I don't see that on the site.

Either way, I'm entering, my gf is entering, and most of my friends...any decent pics from the TT contest should be sent in too, it can't hurt to try!

by the way, any other digi pic contests around?
alegria
It was a lot of fun!!! I was also not in a mood for getting out of the house and doing anything, but it was a great decision to come - great people, great atmosphere, and hopefully couple of good photos as well - let's see smile.gif

This from the regulations:

The works must be in JPEG format, with the larger side being 800 pixels and the smaller side must be no more than 600 pixels and compacted so as not to surpass 500 Kb.

What the hell? 800x600?
Small Town Boy
It's large enough to judge a photo; if you win, I'm sure they'll be wanting a larger image. Back in the days of prints, a 6x4in photo was standard, and that's the equivalent of about 400x267 pixels.
NOFXmike
Very true, look at what they want if you win...I can't be bothered to look right now, but it's much bigger.

At print quality, which is 300dpi, a 6x4in photo would need a resolution of 1800x1200 for it to look any good.. try printing a 400x267 pixel image out at 6x4, it would be blurry and pixelated like hell..
Iain & Siobhan
print quality is relative. as far as Im concerned the best photos and the ones I will vote for are from simple poinjt anjd shoo. sometimes we are so tied uup in technic that we forget what is worth looking at. I really learned to look again at the world, and will vote for anyonbe who can make an empty bottle and a cigartette look like art.. georgeous photo. I am jeklous of your ability to see things. I vote for you
pootle
Right back home after way too many beers. Pictures will be going online tomorrow night

Beer!!!

You never told me about that! unsure.gif
DDBug
Wait - when I left you were babysitting poots. rolleyes.gif
I'm not that worried, I know I picked the wrong photo. After the judging I'll put up the three others I couldn't choose between. The few other photos I saw from others were really good... I can't wait to try this again.
Carm
what did you select as the theme?
pjoyce
Sorry I could not make it today (I was in the UK at a wedding and just got back). I´m looking forward to seeing the photo´s though and will keep an eye on this thread for the next one.
DDBug
The theme was "Reflections" (got there late so I wasn't involved in the selection)
the Boy From Bozlem
No porn in here yet? ph34r.gif
DDBug
Actually, I did hear a couple people comment about double checking that they had deleted all the good stuff off their cameras beforehand . rolleyes.gif
the Boy From Bozlem
but did they? unsure.gif
Grinner
Actually I gt some snaps of a smashing set of headlamps!!!

May post them on another thread! ph34r.gif

DDBug
@ grinner - I am going to post my other choices after the competition - I think we should have a gallery of everyones best three.

@iain - are you saying that so I will vote for you ?? laugh.gif
MadGolfer
Grinner & Pootle,

Thanks for a fun afternoon.

Thanks to the organisers - I enjoyed that. My meagre results are here: photowalk
dancarina
Well, I felt totally ridiculous there with my little point and shoot compared to everyone else with their tripod gear and whatnot, but it was a lot of fun! I hope we have another one soon -- when the weather is better, hopefully cool.gif
DDBug
Don't worry dan - I had a little point and shoot thing as well - but the boys with their big cameras were very encouraging and kept saying it wasn't the size of the camera that mattered unsure.gif
