my mac keeps on loading iTunes at random times and will not stop doing it. This just started happening and I am suspecting my first virus ever I have no idea what to do against it or what anti virus stuff people would recommend. Very annoying! Thanks for the help in advance.

LOL! You sound so cute.

I use avast! for virus protection. I think it's good. Plus it's free.

I also protect my computer with other programs: Spyware Doctor, Ad-Aware, Spybot.

So, iain, start using protection!

Presuming your using Tiger, try downloading MainMenu or Onyx and repairing your permissions.

There is no Avast, Spyware Doctor, Ad-aware or Spybot available for the mac... it doesn't need them!

I doubt its a virus.. probably just a software defect. Do as punchbear says.

I think the problem was repaired upon restart. however I did run mainmenu and maybe that fixed it but I have had no problems in the last little bit. Crazyness, anyway I am about to try running some download software and see if everything stays stable.

Could've been another file or app trying to use iTunes to phone home - Little Snitch monitors activity like that and notifies you. But if the problems gone then that's the main thing.

and i thought the biggest draw about macs was that they were "immune" to viruses...

anyway, have you gone to ilounge and posted on the forum there? there is also an itunes section in case this is an itunes problem.
Timmeh
iTunes starting randomly hardly sounds like a virus. It's most likely just a glitch in the matrix, do as Neo Punchbear says
Darkknight
Read here.. Seems to be a problem with an iTunes Widget. Make sure your running the newest ver. with all patches.

Keep us posted anyways.
