It is really hot here, does anyone know of any places to cool down near Dresden.

Not particularly near Dresden, but it is worth the trip approx 45 minute depending how fast you drive.

Naunhof (direction Leipzig): more near leipzig, directly at the autobahn exit (Naunhof) is a crystal clear baggersee. you have to pay a fiver for the car park but then it is free. I recommend walking towards the far side where it is more secluded and more trees for shade etc. FKK optional.
Keydeck
The Talsperre Malter is quite nice. It's about 20km from the city.

Closest from the center is Lake Pratzschwitz, near Pirna. Check it out on google maps.
If you have a car, getting to the lake is quite easy. If you use public transport, I guess you will have to go upto Pillnitz or Pirna and change from there.

One closer alternative is the Dresdener Heide. From AlaunPlatz (near Indian restaurant Maharajah), head down northwards. After 10 minutes or so, you will enter the woods. It's a popular place to bike/walk/jog and the path is along a narrow stream. With a lot of tree cover, this place is ideal for cooling off. It's very popular with the locals during the summer.

Have fun,

Anyone recommend any sauna places or indoor/outdoor pools in Dresden Gebiet?

Nordbad in Dresden Neustadt is ok but small, but the Geibelbad in Pirna is one of the best saunas i have been to.
