Music festival goers

Anyone fancy hitting a festival this summer?

Inspired by Uncle Sally's magazine, I was wondering if anyone fancied getting together and heading to a music festival a la Glasto somewhere in Germany? I've seen plenty of great line-ups and the tickets are definately cheaper and easier to come by than they are in the UK, I just don't know anyone who likes spending the weekend camping and listening to quality rock music! smile.gif
So, anyone up for it?

One festival that looks especially appealing is The Highfield Festival from 17th-19th August near Erfurt. The train gets you there (at a bit of a steep) 55€ in about 4 hours but there's also a 'Mitfahrgelegenheit' section on the festival website.

Of course, there are loads of others too! So let's get down and dirty, queue for the loo and not take a shower for 3 days! wink.gif

forget that. fusion's the place to be. 46 quid for three day festival on an old german military airforce base. how could you resist when acts like the great "rico loop" (you may also know him from the boxhagenerplatz fleamarket) or "console" comprising one or two members of the slightly perhaps one-time famous "The Notwist"... are playing.
Not only that they give you money for collecting garbage!!! what's not to love?

I just bought my tent.

I may up up for doing a roadie to check out Love Parade in Essen in August? I guess it all depends on who is playing at these festivals.

Introducing a three-day open-air festival of Irish folk music.

The festival is taking place on an organic farm - The Hausler Hof, Hallbergmoos which is very near Munich and is on the S8 (airport line).

There will be a shuttle bus from the train station to the festival site.

We envisage the festival as a family event over three days with something for everyone. There will be four stages for concerts, sessions, dancing, a monster céilí, Irish market, kids' playground, bonfire night, bathing lake and an all-day food and beverage service at reasonable prices. Camping and parking is free.

All musicians are welcome to attend and an open stage is available to those who would like to strut their folky stuff.

Festival entrance is free apart from the main concert on Saturday night - tickets for this cost €15 at the door or €13.50 in advance from: www.muenchen-ticket.de.
