My father in law is coming to Hamburg in August to celebrate his 80th birthday. He was last here in 1946 in the merchant navy. He is keen to see any records of merchant navy ships that visited Hamburg in 1946 so that he can show me which ships he was on. Does anyone know of a place where such records are kept so that I can take him and allow him to have a great 80th birthday?

Thanks

Will have to have a chat with my dad. He is ex-merch and might know where to look. His ship visited Hamburg in the early 60s.

The National Maritime Museum has records. Might be able to start digging there.

Also The Ships List has a lot of stuff although its more for people tracing their family history, etc.
