I presume GM's is the venue of choice tonight to watch England screw it up march on triumphantly?

One question, is Estonia on the same time zone as us? Not important i know but just wondered?

MonksTown
Estonia is an hour ahead of Munich, two hours ahead of the UK.

I'll see you later bluedave.

BTW, did you see your ex-boy Psycho had a rather tasty result with the U21's last night?
bluedave
Got some disks for you too Sin. smile.gif

Found out Crouch is partnering Owen from the start which doesn't bode well ...
LeChamois
I can't believe anybody could be bothered to watch it.
Sin
I can't believe you wasted your precious time reading this thread.
coolerking

What time is kick-off in local time (Munich Standard Time) ??
Inflatablewoman
We're plus one hour. How hard can it be?

ok... its 20:30.

I'll be in GMs but probably only in time to catch the second half. sad.gif
Jeeves
It's even easier if you read the thread title.
marka
Not knowing what BST stood for it was hard to know how many hours plus or fucking minus we were. Cheers for the clear and unambiguous answer :-)
marka
True indeed...didnt spot that one :-) Maybe I should be in this thread
gideon
BST = GMT or UST+1 or is it -1?
so Munich = CET = (GMT+1)+1 or is it minus?
flashmac
OK I didnt make my question clear..

Is it (or highlights) shown on 'GERMAN' cable channel.. although now I'm pretty sure it isnt.

Tuning in to radio 5 it is then.

Disclaimer: I don't know if what we get is the standard cable channels. But Eurosport is showing it live. ARD is a bit taken up with Germany v. Slovakia (I think), so Eurosport is your best bet.

Get down to Heggartys, they'll have the game on for sure.

muppet. BST = GMT+1. CET = GMT+1, so Sommerzeit in Germany is GMT+2.

ohhh? But I thought Sommerzeit was MEZ +1? Therefore as Talin's Sommerzeit is MEZ+2 and MEZ is GMT+1 what time is the game in UST?
3 Lions
GMT - Günther Murphys Time.

UST (Universal Standard Time) is more correctly known as UT (Universal Time) and is simply another name for GMT (well sort of anyways). Since Talin is an hour ahead of Germany and Germany is currently two hours ahead of GMT, logic would dictate that the time in Talin is GMT+3 (or BST+2)

The game is scheduled for 19:30 BST, which is 18:30 GMT, 20:30 MEZ (SZ), and 21:30 EET (Eastern European Time, which is currently GMT+3 or GMT+2 in the winter)

Yes to confirm Eurosport International is showing it live (which is normally available on analogue German cable) starting at 20:30 CET.
And with English commentary (assuming you have a stereo TV and can switch to the second sound channel - which I think was not possible in Hessen but is in Munich)

time in Talin is GMT+3 (or BST+2)

so failing to use logic could result in missing the first half of the match! And if you're really stupid only getting the post game autopsy of a flacid 0:0 draw and England no longer contending to qualify.
Sin
'ere Gids, yer good at this time malarky. Can you please inform me what time the match starts as a Star Trek stardate?
gideon
That's 3 lion's job!
Genie
Go Estonia!
Aelfwynn
Someone has a death wish? biggrin.gif
Genie

bluedave

Or if you're completely daft you could miss the whole match by a day, as I did on Saturday. I mean Friday.
I mean who the hell plays internationals on a Friday evening?
Johnny Norfolk
Great win for England to beat such a great team. 3-0 what a great score. I am sure England will now go on to win the world cup. I bet the other Europien countries are realy concerned about this victory as they will not now want to play England.
bluedave
A given, JE doesn't like football, therefore ignore anything he's said!

As for Norfolk idiot, well, judge him on all his posts, has he ever ever posted anything usefull on here?

Jusr another whiner taken to extrene!

It was a good result, especially as Croatia and Russia drew. The display was a long, long way from perfect, but the players, even Fat Frankie, looked slightly more spritely after only having played the one friendly since the middle of May.

You have to say that Wes Brown and Ledley King wouldn't make it onto the field with Gary Neville, Micha Richards, Jamie Carragher and Rio Ferdinand available, so not conceeding a goal was a big bonus considering the defensive mistakes both Brown and King display far too often. JT's clearance off the line saved a few blushes at the end, and is typical of the man's 'never-say-die' attitude. He's cleared a few of those for his club already. Robinson should have had that covered, and looked nervous whenever the ball came close. Roll on the day when Ben Foster usurps him. Bridge on the left works for me. I'd much rather he kept the position ahead of Cashley.

The Gerrard and Lampard combination: did it work last night, or did other factors mask the fact that both players weren't as instrumental to the game as Joe Cole, Beckham and Crouch? My jury is still out on this one. In the unlikely event that McClaren has learnt anything from last night, it is that two strikers and two wingers is the way to go, and maybe, just maybe, it has to be either Gerrard or Lampard as the attacking midfielder (along with the two wingers) combined with a defensive midfielder like Hargreaves (when he's fit and back from his Canadian holiday). Joe Cole was superb. Far less of the poor man's Cristiano Ronaldo impressions and far more 'get-on-with-it'. His commitment to tackle last night was very noticeable. Likewise for Beckham. Cole's goal was a pearler. To that point we hadn't really figured out a way through the tightly packed Estonian defence, and to be brutally honest, Michael Owen had had a superb chance minutes earlier that he took too long over trying to get the ball to sit in a better position and got robbed. Cole didn't give them the chance, popped the lay-back off his shoulder, spun and hit it sweetly on the half-volley - Michael Owen take note: your speed, hunger and sharpness are the areas you need to work on... but I am happy that you got a goal.

Rumours abound that twenty million Englishmen are eating humble pie over David Beckham. I am one. The drop certainly raised his game. He doesn't look quite as accurate as he has from direct free kicks, but his commitment has returned, and the two balls in for Crouch's and Owen's goals were sublime. Funny, when Dyer replaced him I was very pleasantly surprised by the way Kieran was going at it as well. However, of the other replacements, Downing failed yet again to indicate why he makes it on to the England bench and Jenas had zero time to show anything.

Crouch; I'm still not sure. He is good at bringing the ball down and holding it up for others, but I'd still prefer a Shearer type player in that position. Whatever, he's out of the next qualifier after collecting another yellow. Now I've said it before and I'll say it again, Michael Owen is small and he's getting older and slower. He's getting too easy to push off the ball. He has to change his game. If you watched the Estonian defence closely you would have noticed that they didn't so much tackle as 'shove' the man off the ball. McClaren had two aces on the field, a little bloke who can run at them and be easily fouled by a lesser quality defence, and a bloke who can score goals from direct free kicks. It really is THAT obvious, isn't it?
bluedave
Please God, give us another Shearer ! unsure.gif
