T-Com strike

Info on what's happening, why, and the effects

Ok..so my rudimentary understanding of German news tells me that T-Com are currently on strike (plus the large Verdi van with 'Streik' written on it outside the T-Com building). I was just wondering if anyone knew why they're striking?

Much more importantly though...how long for (anywhere near a settlement)? and most importantly, what does this mean for those of us who use the lovely pink and grey internet/phone provider?! I'm meant to be moving soon and I'm taking the stony silence from T-Com on my umzugs form to mean that they're all out protesting and nobody home. Unfortunately I've been completely unable to get any news or info, please TT..can you help?

You probably won't even notice a difference in customer service and reaction time, really. ph34r.gif

Strange, cos T-Com called me tonight and offered me a super new deal with 6mb flatrate net, flatrate telephone in Germany and 2.7c per minute to England so they aren't all on strike obviously.

Despite profits or better said, to deliver even MORE profits, Telekom is making a serius attack on the wages and conditions of lot of its staff.
I've passed the leaflet on now but I think it was real term pay cuts of 20% or something that the staff were facing.

Every time Telekom re-organise they create a new subsidiary and the staff who work for the newly formed subsidiary get new contracts and lose their Beamter status which means their hours and pay are re-structured. Telekom have been doing this bit by bit since they privatised ten years ago.

Except that wasn't Telekom. Deutsche Telekom do not directly cold-call customers. That was a "Telekom partner" touting for business and a large commission.

Yeah but i already am a customer and they just offered to change my deal. It was however tying me to a 24 month contract. unsure.gif

Did they know your customer details or usage profile, or did you have to tell them? A 24-month call-and-surf contract conversion pays around €70 in commision to a successful agent.

Speak English? wink.gif

You mean they work more hours for less money to boost Telekom profits.
