Venue suggestions for a night out in Frankfurt

Hello all,

a friend and I are planning a night out bar-hopping in Frankfurt on Wednesday 6th and we were wondering if anyone could recommend some decent places to go on a night out. We're coming from Wiesbaden and as the last train home seems to be relatively early we're planning on staying out all night and getting the first train in the morning so some late night/early morning places would be good too!

What sort of places are you after? Touristy/English speaking/Clubs/Swanky???

If its clubbing your after Cocoon is the place, open till 6am Fri and Sat..

Thanks for the replies! I guess we'll end up clubbing at some point but I was wondering if there's an area where there are plenty of bars that we can hop in and out of, not too bothered if they're touristy but maybe some nice trendy bars would be a good place to start.

what about places in Nordend? Any recommendations?

For the Nordend, check out the Oeder Weg. There a couple of nice places there, also some little boutiques and galleries. I love it there!

My friend comes to visit me from overseas for Sat and Sunday, I am supposed to show the night life in Frankfurt. Where is a good place for a tourist? I am after an upmarket/special kind of bar or a Rock'n Roll place. Any ideas?

Alt Sachsenhausen is a dive..sort of like a smalll Bourbon St or Reeperbahn. Good place to get sloppy drunk. Watch your walllet.
Schweizerstr in Sachsenhausen has some trendy joints alongside the traditional Ebbelwoi places.
Bornheim has more subdued funky bars
There are a lot of Techno/Dance clubs out the Hanauer Landstrasse but you'd pretty much have to take a car and male-only groups don't gain entrance easily.

There are enough places downtown if you don't want to venture further out such as Living and Zanzibar but the weekend crowds are often mostly under-21s.
