I just managed to blow my toaster up. Which will leave me without toasted bagels for some time unless I manage to get a new toaster. Now the only problem is finding a toaster that does more than simple 'white american toast' by this I mean a toaster with a bagel function. They don't seem to exist here. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could find such a thing?

I have an extra wide toaster, which I got in Media Markt, don't know if that helps!

You can also get one of these wee mini ovens, which are big enough to bake half a frozen pizza in. They're not too expensive as far as I know.

Just found the "Krups F EM2 51 Toaster ProEdition Plus Chrom Toaster weiß/chrom" in amazon. I phoned around town couldn't find one and this was the cheepest one I could find online with a bagel function. I tell you sometimes I wonder whats wrong with this country.

Hopefully this will do the trick.

what does that mean: "bagel function"? is it not enough to slice them in half and use the normal toaster settings?
admittedly, when i had no toaster, i used the oven, but i know that takes too long.

bagel function is a wider setting for the toaster. It allows you to put the bagels into the toaster without having to stuff them in. Stuffing your bagels into a toaster can cause it to explode

Okay but here is something more helpful: it is called the AFK TOM-2 CC. I bought it in January 2006 and it was €19.99.
It says about the bagel function:
For the toasting of one side of a bagel bun half. In this case only the toaster's inner heating coils are active. The outer coils remain cold. The side of the bun to be toasted must face the inner part of the toaster.
So I guess no it does not do what you want it to do.

please refer to it not as a bun but as a bagel. I am getting the toaster tomorrow in the mail and we shall see how it works out.

I'm actually waiting for Johnny Anglais to jump in about how gay bagels are.

Fairplay, bagels are quite gay. They play a variant of hoopla with them apparently.

That was not me referring to it as a bagel bun, but the manual of the toaster. I just typed out what the manual said. Yes I went through all the trouble of finding the manual to tell you what it said, you better feel special!
