Hi all...

I'm going to be spending a month in California, Nappa Valley in October...any tips on things I should do, see, eat etc. whilst there? It's my first time in the US and I don't really have much knowledge of the area! Limited cash but lots of time...any suggestions would be great + I'm bored at work today and fancy doing a spot of daydreaming about my upcoming trip (yes, I know it's still ages away!).

hopefully Crawlie will see and post when he gets up, else PM him. He would probably even take you out for a bit, anything to get away from changing nappies pleases him biggrin.gif Plus a legitimate excuse like that and Winegirl may oblige...

Thanks arshoo - that's a great idea - will do. Will have so much spare time as my bf will be working all day in the vineyard, would be great if he had time to play the tour guide a bit.

Vineyard!! Well then he may as well be colleagues with Winegirl too!! Sorted biggrin.gif
Rilana
Excellent...hopefully they'll be up for meeting up then. Thanks again!

Awww can I come with you?

Anyway, I only ever was in San Francisco so I'm not much help. I never left the city when I was there. But I envy you. I haven't been to the States in oh-so-long, it makes me sad. sad.gif

Hope you have fun!

I know, I can't wait!! biggrin.gif Already counting down the months, the month before that I'll be in Portugal for a month which should also be excellent, but I know it there, so California is far more exciting! I'll be flying in to San Fran so will definitely have a look around there too. A month seems like ages but it will probably fly by.

Actualy crawlie is in Eugene which is about a 12 hour drive from Napa vally.
Rilana
Wow. that's far...bummer.

So back to asking for any tips...anyone?

Hi Rilana,
check out the coast up north going into Oregon - beautiful nature!!!
Further, take a ride down to San Diego or as far as you can make it in your time there and check out the coast. Take a motorcycle to enjoy it fully.
Also, check out the mountains and the desert. I love Palm Springs!!! If you have enough cash, check out the Spa in La Quinta (Don't get it confused with the motel chain. It's a town close to Palm Springs named after a historic spa and hotel.)

The national and state parks are also great. Do some camping e.g. in Anza Borengo (desert)!!!
Enjoy! Wish I could come with you! biggrin.gif

thanks Kirsty - sounds great. Can't wait! Will research those further on the net. Should, hopefully, be amazing!
