Münster Skupturprojekte will be held this year for the fourth time and invites artists from all over the world to create new work in the city of Muenster. Mounted every ten years and previously hosted in 1977, 1987, and 1997, this large show will run parallel to the Documenta 12 in Kassel. Half a million visitors were at the show in 1997 and organisers are hoping for similar numbers this year.

Curated by Prof Kasper König (Museum Ludwig, Cologne) and Dr. Brigitte Franzen (Westphalian State Museum, Muenster), with Associate Curator Dr. Carina Plath (Westphalian Art Association, Muenster), the team have invited 37 artists to participate in the exhibition which has the aim of examining the character of contemporary sculpture, its self-positioning and its capacity to change the appearance of public space, hoping to show an interdependence between the arts, the city and the public.

Works will be mostly created in Münster and installed throughout the city - changing the face of Münster as it goes.
The concept of "city, space and the public" will also be discussed in accompanying films and lectures, see the website for details.

And as these are public works in city spaces - you can see them for free.
Check the website and local press for locations and artists.
