Best ways to sell a car

Classified ads, dealers, other ideas

I need to sell a car before leaving the country at the beginning of July -- and we'd like to hold on to the car for as long as possible up to our flight, so we'd like to wait on advertising it and then sell it quickly (or sell it to someone who can wait a bit after making the agreement to buy). What works best? Classified ad in the the Sueddeutsche? The Muenchner Merkur? Are there dealers who buy your car from you (i.e., not as a trade-in) without ripping you off? Any other ideas?

It's a 5-year old Golf station wagon, nothing too exciting -- no particular bells and whistles except that it's automatic, which was a bigger deal to us than it likely is to most Germans. (And I'll use the Toytown classifieds, but suspect the time of year is wrong, as we would be leaving the country with the rest of the expats, when school's out, too soon for the newly arriving batch of expats coming just before school starts for the new year.)

you could advertise it here, but you need photos, and all the info- year, milage, Tüv, ect, and see what kind of response you get. Then maybe think about Autoscout or in one of the newspapers.

Call Swiss Tony.

I would use www.mobile.de Sold my car there in literally 2 hours...I was expecting a couple of weeks. It's free too.

Out of curiosity, how much are you asking for?

the AZ is good for selling by newspaper advert. Apart from that Golf always sells well, shouldn't take long.

What about eBay? That way you can set a definite end date.
