G8 summit in Heiligendamm, 6-8.Jun.2007

So far in Warnemünde I have seen a Russian Sailing ship, Mer I think, and actually quite a few American military (supposedly 2 warships near by). The haircuts give it away. Then my bf hears on the radio the US gov't is warning Americans to stay out of this area. Supposedly next weekend there are going to be demonstrations here in Rostock...great, why couldn't this happen the week before I got here.

i think they should have planned the g8 summit for an island in the north sea or on one of the the ones in Nordfriesland. no need for a fence cuz there's miles of mudflats to wade through and if you time it wrong, you're swimming!

Good idea and then they could have held the demonstrations on boats in the sea instead of this city...guess I must watch were I speak English. Though there seem to be a lot of tourist here in Warnemünde, so hoefully here no problems and only on the other side of the river.

yeah, they wasted all this money on a fence when they could have taken advantage of what geography had to offer. but that would have been waaay too easy. they could have done it for less than a quarter what they're splurging on all this. it's such a farce.
