Hi, Everyone!
I will be taking an internship position in Munich beginning the 6th of August of this year. However, as I have just accepted the internship position, I'm afraid there is not sufficient time to have a work visa processed before the 6th of August., as visa processing can take up to 3 months. I recently spoke with a woman at the German Consulate in New York and was told that the best option, at this point, would be to have my company in Munich contact the Arbeitsamt in Munich in order to get a "pre-approval form" for me. That way, I would be able to work in Munich from day one. I've tried searching for this type of form online, but my search has yielded no results. Has anyone ever heard of this type of form? If so, would this be the best option for me if I need to begin working in Munich at the beginning of August? I suppose then I would begin the application process for a work visa shortly after my arrival in Munich.
The duration of the internship is approximately 6 months. After those 6 months, would I be able to get my visa extended with another company, or would I have to re-apply for a visa with another company if I wished to stay in Germany for more than 6 months? I would really appreciate any feedback anyone could give me!
