I will be hiking up to the Schachenhaus for an overnight soon. Some of my co-hikers are a bit nervous. Can I quell their fears? How long will it take from GAP? Will both my relatively fittish and unfittish friends arrive at the hut still speaking to me?

No offence or anything, but do you not have a map? Assuming you do, apply
Naismith's Rule (5km/h plus 30 minutes per 300m of height gain) and then double it for your unfit friends. If you don't have a map then they definitely won't be talking to you at the end of the day.

There's some info in
Hiking in GarmischI seem to remember it took me about 3-4 hours up, including a bit of looking around on the way. It's an easy in-and-out in one day, so no problems for an overnight - unless you leave Garmisch too late in the evening.

Has anyone visited the Hunting Lodge of Schachenhaus Ludwigs retreat?
Any feed back on the paths/route condition would be appreciated,
I understand it can take approx 4 hrs, is the route clearly signposted, with rest break (bier)at intervals?
Cheers
