They are going down a very dark route with this verison of the Joker. The film is due out in 2008, cant wait for the first trailers.

Clowns are scary, dark or not. Give me the creeps.

Looks like it's gonna be a good one.

eh I'm skeptical.
The joker has already been done - and very well done by Jack Nicholas. Too recent for a remake.
The should have picked another bad guy.
3 Lions
Jack Nicholas' Joker would be completely unsuitable for this version of Batman. It was good for Tim Burtons Batman, just not scary in a Psychotic way as the Joker should be. There are no

I just hope they dont go down the road of 'killing off' the villian in this movie. The Joker is to Batman as Lex Luthor is to Superman, you cannot kill off these characters.

You can't really do a new batman franchise without adding his primary arch enemy. Xmen need magneto, Superman needs Lex Luthor, Batman needs the Joker..

Mmmm. smile.gif Magnificent new poster:

gopher
It's eerily similar to the 'The Crow'. Dark story line, clown make-up and tragic death of a young actor just before a film release.

Christian Bale... wub.gif

It'll be so sad to watch this movie.

I can't believe God would take Heath Ledger, and leave Paris Hilton or those brats from My Super Sweet 16 to roam the earth!

I'm pretty sure Heath Ledger took Heath Ledger...

It is a sad fact that some of the most talented and artistic people are also the most troubled and unable to cope with the knocks etc that life will bring.

On the other side of the coin the air heads that contribute nothing, are a total waste of space seem to go on unaffected by everything.

This is why Mr Ledger is dead and Miss Hilton is walking around seemingly trouble free.
lilplatinum
On the bright side it seems that Ms. Winehouse is doing the best to rectify the world of her presence..
FuzzyTony
Oooh, yes. smile.gif

Forget Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Hellboy, Hancock and all the other superhero movies coming out about now. The Dark Knight looks to be the most awesome.

Why So Serious?

Fribble
Blah, blah, deep dark scary music, deep dark scary dialogue. Snore. We should force Hollywood to abandon CGI, anything that catches fire, and color for 5 years. Go back to school. THEN maybe we'd see some craft, some rawness.
Punchbear
Just in from Warner Bros, The Dark Knight. 'Tis in Kroutisch and I can't be arsed translating.

Kinostart: 21. August 2008

'Dark Knight' Sets Box Office Record With $66.4M.

QUOTE
Los Angeles (AP) July 19, 2008 - Batman's joust with the Joker has set another box office record. Stoked by fan fever over the manic performance of the late Heath Ledger as the Joker, "The Dark Knight" set a one-day box office record with $66.4 million on opening day, Warner Bros. head of distribution Dan Fellman said Saturday. The movie's Friday haul surpassed the previous record of $59.8 million set last year by "Spider-Man 3." "The Dark Knight" might break the opening-weekend record of $151.1 million, also held by "Spider-Man 3."

And decent reviews, too: The Dark Knight (2008) (RottenTomatoes).

The Dark Knight TV Spot:

3 Lions
Heath Ledger delivers a Joker you wont forget, though defintely not Oscar worthy.

Personally I think parts of the film fail, namely the relationship between Batman and the Joker, but it's worth going to see.

DK is #1 in the imdb top 250!!!

THE DARK KNIGHT bricht alle Rekorde - das beste
Startwochenende aller Zeiten

Hamburg, 21.
It starts in Munich on the 20th August at the cinema here in Munich. But I still see your point, if I hadnt seen this at the sneak last Friday, then I would be seriously pissed because some twat just wants to hear "Ich bin Batman" on the big screen...seriously learn to read subtitles. I watch German films(And any other nationality for that matter) in their original language and have English subtitles whilst watching. Homer Simpson does not say "NEIN!"...he says "DOH!". Does not translate you stupid backwards race. I even heard a horrific rumour that the doucheland version of Mamma Mia has not only the dialouge translated in to stupid, but also the songs! ohmy.gif

Is the film when eventually released here going to be available in original language as well? And will it be shown in its IMAX format?

Yet another reason to hate German dubbing...the delayed release dates!

maybe in the old days but nowadays you can't blame dubbing for the release dates. it is a habit rather than question of when the dubbing is done. some films ie Harry Potter manage a world wide release date with dubbed versions. there are other reasons for how release dates are managed ie easier for the promotional tours of the films etc.
Clapoti
It's not because of the dubbing... in Quebec we get dubbed versions in French and all the movies come out on the same day as the English ones in the rest of Canada and the USA.
Aussie Steve
Im on holidays in The USA. I have seen Batman The dark Knight and it does not let you down. Well worth the wait. I think it took like the biggest 1st weekend takings of all time in the USA.

It starts in Munich on the 20th August at the cinema here in Munich.

I've scoured the Warner Bros. Presseservice site and it doesn't give a reason for the films comparatively late release. Normally they would if there was a delay of some kind, so I can only presume that this was the planned release date all along.

it's not really the topic but some of you might be interested.
i have just read an interview with the head of walt disney studios motion pictures group, Mr Mark Zoradi. he says on release dates that they are fixed up to 2 years before, spring, autumn and christmas are the most popular, events like world cups, school holidays etc are taken into consideration, films that are unknow at first need the 1-2months difference to establish a certain popularity. he didn't mention dubbing.
