Hi,
My daughter and I are traveling to the US this summer (we are US citizens). She wants to bring a friend, who is a German citizen.
What do we have to do to get her the necessary visa? I've been to the consulate site.
Do German citizens need an interview to get a tourist visa to the US?
The friend is 17. I plan on having a paper which gives me permission to provide her with necessary medical care in an emergency situation. Where can you get such things notarized near Stuttgart?
What else do I need to consider? We still have several months before we go, so there's time to get the visa.
Regards,
Amispatzi

Most, if not all Germanys with machine readable passports that are traveling to the US only for VACATION and not to live or work there are exempt for applying or needing a Visa under the Visa Waiver Program. However seeing as the friend is under 18, you may need a consent form from there parents
apointing you the Resp. person and allowing the friend to travel.

Thank you Hutcho and Darkknight, for your quick replies.
Hutcho, I have no questions about Americans, only for the German going into America.
Apparently Germans no longer need a visa for vacation. I do want to get a consent form particularly for emergency medical care. Thanks for the suggestion.
A colleague called a travel buero, and found that the German friend has to go to the Rathaus for a special form, and the travel agent sent another form as well. Apparently she has to know the exact details of her flight before she can get permission.

Exactly. See the first link, like I said.
