Backpacks small enough for hand luggage

Opinions please!

I'm looking for a backpack thats at least 35 litres (pref 40) and small enough to take on as hand luggage.

I even tried it on in Sport Schuster the other day but it really feels like wearing a huge box on your back. Looks slightly ridiculous if you can imagine. But, hey, I'm ok with that, if I really don't have a choice.

Anyone got any alternatives out there...

Ended up buying the Lowe Alpine one for 90EUR (in the Lowe Alpine office near Grosshadern) - its much better than the Tatonka one IMHO.
