It really depends what you're looking for. If you want free-view channels then just buy a box on-line or in the UK and get some local guy to set you up with a dish. I get Sky Sports and Sky HD through an on-line place that sets you up with a dodgy UK address and you do pay a bit extra for it. The only problem is you can't call Sky directly from Germany or order any box-offixe movies. They are pretty quick when you email them though.
This Link has some more info.
I have the number of a guy in Hamburg who set us up with a dish and has done it for plenty of other expats if you want it. Also have the email address of the Sky people too.

I've got it and most of the channels work fine. ITV for South East England was no good but you can program in other ITVs and I use the Anglia one which is ok.
Before it went digital you could set-up the disk yourself but now you really need the right gear. The direction finders that you can buy in Max Bahr are about as much good as a chocolate frying pan.
I used a nice bloke who wasn't too expensive on Tel. 447532.

Ask yourself first if you really want Sky in the first place. You can get a reasonable range of UK-sourced TV entertainment, including news, childrens, music and radio material along with mainstream public service TV (all BBC and ITV services) without having Sky for much less initial outlay, and with no monthly cost. If you later decide you do want Sky then it's the same dish and installation, just a new box and monthly subscription to make a big hole in your pocket.
