Hey,
the title's pretty self-explanatory. Wanted to know the best way to stick the rear-view mirror back onto the windshield without taking it into an auto repair shop. Someone suggested super glue - but is that strong enough??
Thanks in advance,
Moi

There is a special glue for this. Most auto parts stores should have it.

Probably, but don't do it. For a couple of euro you can get some stuff especially designed for it. Super glue will 1)eventually fall off, 2) leave a mess.

It would be strong enough, but you need something which will stand that much sunlight and the superglue will probably melt.
So try going to either a car bits shop or a big DIY shop and having a look.
Loctite should do something suitable or at least you can look up the glue type on the site.
Or use gaffer tape. Obviously.

Or, as happened to my old car:
3) Fall off and take a chunk of the windscreen still glued to the mirror with it

I wouldn't be concerned with strength, but rather that super glue is very brittle when dry. In you car there are massive heat fluctuations as well as stresses on the connection due to bumps and hands. As other posters have said, this is most likely not a long term solution.

ATU

OBI might have it too, as they sell both car accessories and glue, so there's a good chance they sell a combination of the two!

Just called ATU and they have something called Rückspiegel-Klebeset Power Spiegelfest for 6.99€ just in case anyone's in the same situation. I'm going to pick it up after work, I'll let you all know if it works.
Thanks again for your help
