Street hockey - who here plays? - Berlin

I am just putting this out there to see if there is any interest level worth speaking of in putting together a little street hockey game. (Probably) needless to say, I am a Canadian guy, suffering from withdrawl. If anyone else is interested, get in touch, though I am aware of the obscurity of this topic to German culture.

id be down with this, got blades, but no stick. can maybe make my own.

not a sports fan, but theres something about street hockey.

Back in Vancouver we used to play it like this. No Blades, just shoes, a stick, and an orange ball.

Also, does anyone know where I can buy a hockey stick in Berlin??

I am in if we get this going. I'm pretty sure you can get sticks somewhere in town... I can check up on it.

I'll play with or without blades. I only played without as a kid, as my time on the street was pre-blading time in Newfoundland.

Those orange balls in winter were DEADLY!!! I can still feel the sting on my thighs from some of those errant slapshots... we sometimes used those white "jellyballs" which were much more user friendly. I should try to get a couple shipped up cause I'm sure we won't find those here... I don't even know if we can get tham back home anymore.

Any idea where to find sticks? I have a court ready. Pads and nets might be tricky too. Not to mention the orange ball. Is anyone going to the Czech Republic soon? They have all that there..

I do have one or two of those orange balls. It shouldn't be a problem to find a place to get sticks and nets in Berlin, but as I've only recently moved here myself, I don't know where, yet.

How many are we so far? I count 5 that are interested...

We should have a little pickup game on Canada Day, followed by like a BBQ or something (see Canada Day post)

I bought my stick on ebay on Friday and it arrived on the next Thursday. Cost 15 Euro (sofort kauf), another 7 Euro shipping. Almost new, perfect size and curve is good. Bauer/Nike model but I have the feeling its a cheap knock-off. Made in the Ukraine and looks good. The tape on it sucks..will have to re-do that soon.
Would love to get into a little pick up game on the ice this fall/winter if that is available in Berlin..nothing serious, just some folks playing around.

I will bring the stick to the festivities today just in case a little street game is still planned. Will bring my football (Go Argos) and my glove and ball as well. You never know.
Now...if I could just get myself into shape.

i'm playing. i've found a home with the "spreewoelfe/uni-team" in the berlin's skaterhockey league. (www.bishl.de / www.spreewoelfe.de)

we have practice sessions and play league games, but our main goal is to have fun playing some hockey. there's also pick-up sessions every sunday and anyone interested is invited to drop by!

location: FU-Sporthalle, Königin-Luise-Str. 47 (U3 Dahlem Dorf)
date: every sunday, 3pm - 5pm

If I lived in Berlin, I'd be out there playing street hockey with you guys every chance I got.

I'm also still interested in street hockey w/o inline skates. We need a few more players to start I think!
