I hear that you can look at naked ladies on the intarwebs...this can kill a load of time
iain
nah the mom is here helping/visiting so it has to be clean sorry. smile.gif
crite
Careful Timmeh, you don't know what the surgery was...

play chess online, or other games. Yahoo is a good source. Read interesting books. The Patriot's club kept me turning pages for 2 days straight.
Ask your friend to rent you some good movies. And last...write hate letters to George Bush. www.whitehouse.gov

and if you look at naked ladies all day you may well need surgery on your arm unsure.gif
JerseyBoy
What kind of surgery did you have? Do you have a picture?

(Sorry, perhaps that's a bid morbid and doesn't take you mind off, as it were...)

Not if the op was a vasectomy ohmy.gif

my genitals are still in tact and I hope in fully functioning order. For those people that need surgery due to looking at naked ladies online maybe you should have seen a doctor about something else before it came to that.
sarabyrd
Ooooh, did you get to see the video clip of the operation? Wonderful how white bones are, isn't it?
Start learning a foreign language. Make a list of things to do when you can get around again. Take up knitting.
iain
no white bones sad.gif they put me fully under the meanies apparently thats the only way the operation can be outpatient. knitting might be an idea at this point. My head is still a bit woozy from the narcotics so I think foreign language is out for the moment.

I had a similar knee operation in '93: arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn medial meniscus on my left knee.

But I was up and about the same day - it was just out-patient surgery for me. I had some swelling and pain, but I was jogging two weeks later.
FatRascal
Might have to sign up for one of these arthroscopys myself, if it'll get me jogging in two weeks!

I had out-patient surgery as well (but with full anaesthesia and artificial respiration), and when I went in for the check-up the next day I got the see the video, it was really cool. No blood, just my nice white bones and the ugly gray cartilege that was clogging up my knee. And when the doc snipped the last bit of that away - spoing! - my knee cap snapped back to where it should have been all along.
Try Text Twist on yahoo or msn - don't know if they're free anymore but you have time to search. Very addictive.

Mind you, I wasn't running marathons, just a coupla kms to retain some level of fitness.

I had the same last Oct - I wasn't up weight bearing on leg that day, in fact not for a week plus I haven't started jogging either (!) - reckon it depends how much cartilage they have to take out and what tidying up has to be done...

get well soon iain.
JerseyBoy
Yes, I suppose so.

The only advice I got from the doctor was: "Put as much weight on it as you can." Since I wasn't in a whole lotta pain, I got rid of the cruches after the first day.

And yes, get well iain!!

Set up igoogle page and then you can add RETRO games like ASTEROIDS.

You poor hurtin' puppy! Seems everyone has defective knees now adays. Weird eh? Do you think surgery has fads? That's for another topic perhaps. Nevermind. Hope you get well soon.
I've found this website http://www.tv-links.co.uk/ can kill oodles of time.
Other occupations I'd suggest when laid up are calling all your friends and complaining endlessly of your suffering. If they try to change the subject, accuse them of lacking empathy. They'll be better people for it, and somehow it will also make you feel better. wink.gif When they stop taking your calls, you can start on the crank calls to strangers. Loads of time wasting fun in that. I hope you have a flat rate.
Or, make up a new user name and troll TT. Seems a lot of others are doing it with less excuse than yours, and it may give you some insight into what it means to have a split personality. wink.gif
Paint a picture.
Read.
Eat a lot.
Gameboys or a playstation can make hours disappear. Some of the games can even give you epilectic fits, I hear, which will definitely take your mind off your knee problems. :-)
Gute Besserung!
iain
Thanks for all the tips and empathy. I don't think I'm going to be running any marathons in the near future although I should sign up for one just to make sure. Yeah I don't think I shall be putting any weight on the leg either I'm supposed to keep it elevated for three days and something like that. I also have to figure out what they found during the procedure this morning. something odd about haut (skin?) trying to grow somewhere and something wrong with the liquid being produced. all very odd.

So I have stopped getting phone calls from friends asking me how I did so I think I shall have to start on the prank calls, playing retro games on the internet, reading the latest Rankin book. tv-links is a great site kathy I shall have to start trolling it and seeing if I can find some new stuff there.

You could watch the cheese along with quite a few other people.

Since www.cheddarvision.tv debuted in December, the Web site offering a live broadcast of a round slab of English cheddar cheese slowly maturing has had more than 1.2 million hits.

Whoa dude sorry to hear about the knee. Create a second account and send random pms but have some style to it. Not your regular pervy stufff just some random thoughts and ideas. I recommend a name like oprah winfrey or dr phil. Then send hate mail to other second accounters out there.

Also try finding the book How to talk dirty and influence people by Lenny Bruce. I know I know I recommend reading this book all the time but it truly is worth it.
