Hello,
I have recently got Alice DSL connected at my apartment. Only problem is, when I try to access a web site (like Yahoo, netscape or anything else), I get sent back to the Alice website!
I have checked everything in the explorer internet options and I always get the same problem.
I am using Internet explorer on an XP system.
Has anyone else encountered this problem, or have any suggestions as to how I can fix this problem.
Thanks
Grinner

Try down loading Firefox.

Didn't Alice tell you that once you move to them you can only access the Alice Website from your internet connection?
That's why the service is so cheap...

yep had this problem last week after also changing to alice.
Simply turn everything off (computer, modem etc) and restart.

Does Alice require you to first register? Yes, I know about PPPoE connections, maybe something additional?

How will he do that if he can't access their website?

I have Alice and have never experienced that problem. Try something other that IE (i.e. Opera, Firefox). That should resolve the problem.

Thanks to all for your suggestions.
I have tried resetting the computer several times., and I get the same problem.
A couple of my friends have Alice but they do not have this problem at all.
I shall try, as the team on this thread, suggested and try using Firefox or another browser other than IE.
I was not aware that Alice ties customers exclusively to there web content!
I shall update when I get back to my pad and try out the new browsers.
Thanks again :-)

I would think it's worth doing a tracert to see if it's going wrong somewhere inside Alice' network.
from a command line:

Thats what they have a free line to call. 4110411 IIRC. Choose the number to report a 'technische Störung' and let them figure it out.
Its unlikely that the problem is on your end.

As PB said just call Alice customer service. You have their phone number on the contract.

I had the same problem. You have to create an email address on their site and log in. Only then can you use Alice normally (dunno why). I, for some reason, couldn't do even that (?) so I called them and the lady switched that option off. Since then everything works perfectly. Just call them and they'll fix it in no time. Good luck!
