Hi all

It's nice to be back in Hamburg after a long 116 days back in NZ. I'm looking forward to another summer!!! Where is it???

So, my question...

My lovely German guy proposed - Yay!!! We are about to launch into the paperwork etc to satisfy the authorites that we are legitimate. It seems (so far) that it's not too hard. Optimistic or naive. hehe.

Anyway, there is a timeframe once you apply of I think a maximum of 6 months so we have a short time to organise a nice wedding. We are on a limited budget (I can't work until the deed is done) and Michael is doing his bar exam so student wages... Sooooo, do any of you know of or have any suggestions for or experiences with wedding reception venues? A restaurant, hall, club... catering etc etc. We are not too fussed on location as money will dictate many of the decisions.

Any feedback will be much appreciated! biggrin.gif

Hamburg is a large city and you dont indicate which part of Hamburg you are in. Back in 1988 (!) we lived in Wedel, got married in the very nice old Ratszimmer in the Rathaus and held our after-wedding lunch in a restaurent in Klovensteen forrest. We were about 20 people in all...

Will let you know where we end up as you might be looking for a nice place to celebrate your 20th anniversary. Wow. I'm impressed!

I agree thats pretty central... Assuming that you will be having visitors who have travelled a long way maybe you should
be looking for a place with some view like Hamburg harbour.

Well, given that those remaining relatives in UK are too elderly to travel & my brother's family will have no interest to come over (they havnt managed it at all yet... = too busy)
anything we do here will be very small - at least the witnesses to our wedding are still around (they married a year after us & I was witness...)
