So, it would be John Wayne's centenary this month and i found that astonishing. I remember as a kid cuddling up to my mum on a sunday afternoon watching 'The Duke' and thinking that he epitomised the USA and the pioneer spirit.

Maybe i'm just an old romantic but i miss his kind of films and the bullish spirit that one man can make the difference.

Am i on my own? ( There's a pun there if you look hard enough wink.gif )

"Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday."

Quote by John Wayne

Watching John Wayne movies with my dad was a memorable part of my childhood, thanks Bluedave for reminding me of this.

Are you really an Ami on your own?

Marion Robert Morrison just doesn't have the right ring, does it?

rolleyes.gif Where is the embarrassed smiley? He was so NOT the epitomy of the USA and pioneer spirit (and no cowboy walked or talked like he did).

Watched him in The Alamo this week . They dont make films like that anymore. It was great.

The only movie with him that I ever liked was "El Dorado", Howard Hawks director. John Wayne, Robert Mitchum and a very, very young James Caan as Mississippi, aka Alan Bourdillion Treherne.

John Wayne is a MAN thing not boys & girls.

*gag* *ack* Whatever, JN, but he was certainly not a real cowboy thing and apparently only appeals to you guys from the old country wink.gif
