Does anyone have any suggestions. I am planning on flying in July. It does not have to be direct flights.
I am looking for New York or Washington DC to Munich and return in August.

If you dont already know this one:
www.anyway.com
Search and book in the morning hours (European morning) as prices go up as America wakes up and often go down again.
Natalie25
Thank you. I did not know this one. Can someone in the US use this to book as well?

No only people living in free countries can use this web site (just kidding)
I dont know I am not in US

I just checked. This site belongs to Expedia which is not always cheap.

www.cheaptickets.com
www.1800flyeurope.com

OR I think the best way www.icelandair.com seriously, check it out.

Thank you.

try www.kayak.com summarizes/collects from all the other travel sites (expedia, orbitz, etc). most user friendly site i have found
eurovol
Those are hubs and you should look to book directly with the airlines or a reputable agent of those airlines in the states. Asking us here in Munich won't help much unless someone just happens to know a travel agent in NY or DC.

i've always used Travel Overland. i tried all those other sites and TO was just as reliable. i got my tix to the US just this past two weeks for 560 Euro roundtrip (taxes included) from TO (Air Canada, FRA-TOR-RDU, then LaGuardia-TOR-FRA). granted, I booked end of January.

oh, another tip. try to always get an e ticket. saves on fees.

TomKat beat me to it, I was going to suggest kayak.com

I fly back and forth to the US 3, 4 times a year, and usually spend countless hours searching for the cheapest tix (I am a bit OCD about the whole thing... or maybe it's a commitment issue, I am always afraid that as soon as I buy a ticket, a cheaper one will become available, but I digress...)

In my experience, the cheapest flights I find are either on Travel Overland (which is associated with Travelocity, but offer cheaper rates that Travelocity a lot) or on Orbitz.

In the past few months, Orbitz has been significantly cheaper than anything else I found.

Of course, this is for non-changable, non-refundable flights. I sometimes prefer Travel Overland because it is easy and cheap to buy insurance, and on Orbitz that option is not always available, for some reason.

Prices on flights to the US in July are sky high! I´ve been looking to book tix to SFO and cant find anything less than a 1100 Euros.Anyone who has done better please post here.

@Psmith - a quck search on Kayak.com found some flights for €950, but with lousy connections...

Edit: A search on Orbitz for the random dates of July 4th to July 25th (both Wednesdays... I was told by a travel agent that Weds. are usually the cheapest day to fly) turned up results for €750.

Cheers Leeza :-)

Shall have a look at it and hopefully find dates that suit me.

If you were an honourable man you would split the difference with her. That's 200 bucks coming Leeza's way very shortly. Nice one PSmith! You can buy a few rounds for the lads tomorrow with the other 200!! Swweeeeeet! Maybe even a few lap dances for daddy at NYTD tomorrow night! You know dat!

I don't know if it'll be the cheapest, but I read today that Air France is currently doing a 10% reduction in prices promotion for round-trip flights to Europe and Asia originating in the US. Tickets need to be booked by May 31st, for travel this year. The discount code is FTLAX09.

Go to the Air France homepage and start booking the flight as you normally would. Then:
- Proceed with your booking: choose your fares and flights and continue
- Once you are satisfied with your recap page (book now step), click the “make reservation link on the lower right corner.
- In the “please provide passenger details section of the page, please select “yes next to “do you have an advantage code?
- Enter your discount code in the box.
- Confirm and proceed to finalizing your purchase.

Jazzy, you got the right idea... tongue.gif But since I am so generous, I will just take €100 for the service.

Good luck to you Psmith... I am a search-the-internet-endlessly-for-the-best-flight-deal addict and hope you find something that works well for you.
