I am confused by the trouser sizes in Germany which are sometimes in the 20s, 40-50s or 90-100s. I know its short, regular and long, but still I am unable to figure out what a US size of 31 (waist) x 30 (inseam) translates to in Germany! Does anyone know the easy answer to this.

32x32 levis translate to about a 50 in mens if that helps.

Levi's are the same around the world. If you wear a 31/30 in the US, you wear a "31/30 jeans" here. Otherwise multiply by 2.54.

I've never come across any trousers in size 78,74, BadDoggie. Where do you find those sizes?

as a rule a 32" leg will be the regular sizes, so I think a 31" waist will be about a German size 46 or 48. A 30" leg will be the short sizes, so maybe a German size 23 or 24 will fit.

Thanks for your posts, at least now I have a shortlist of sizes to try. I am not buying buying Jeans, that would have been easy - most of the Jeans sold here have familiar 32 x 30 etc, not just Levi's. I think I shall try a 23 or 24 and a 50 to see which one really is 31 x 30. If I find out for sure, I will post it here for all the 31 x 30s coming to Germany!

don't bother with a 50, it will be too big if you really have a 31" waiste. Try 46 or 48 and then 24 as well.
