Go to Saturn at OEZ (Olympia Einkauf Zentrum) and across the street is also Conrad's Elektoniks.

By the hauptbahnhof is the street of computer shops, you'll find everything there. Exit the station (front entrance), look to your right and there is Hypovereinsbank, go to that corner and then just wonder down the street till you find a shop you like.

I have been here for 7 weeks too. My husband got me PDA from ALDI (very cheap, about 351 Euro) included the 2 memory stick 252 each. You can store 1 mem. stick with north Germany and another one for the south, swiss, and Austria. It's also very cool that we can download the speed trap locations from their web. It's also very simple to use and not so confusing with 100 streets on the monitor like the one in the states. The navigation system called 'MEDION'. I also have the same problem finding the place when driving. I'm so scared coz I always have to drive with my 8 mths. old son and I didn't understand most of the signs. Having a navigation system give me some sort of a secure feeling. But it's in German though, I also complaint a lot but then within 1 day driving you will get used to the command. There's only a few command that you have to remember. Have fun.

I've yet to find PDAs directly available in Germany (as opposed to shipped from overseas) with English operating systems. Unlike a PC you can't change the language either. Dell might sell you one of theirs in English.

However, I've bought a couple of German PDAs with GPS Navigation GPS add-ons in German (typical price €350-€400 complete, both Tchibo and Aldi have exceptional, but usually limited offers), and simply installed TomTom 3 in English, with all the maps of Europe. I barely use the PDA for anything else except Navigation, so the German OS doesn't bother me.. Works a treat. TomTom is highly recommended.

I recommend trying http://www.expansys.com, they have a number of different European websites, so you can check out what you want in English, and then switch to the German website to order if you want. They do sell English OS PDAs, and do ship them here.

I bought myself a Garmin iQUE when I arrived here - English language version bought locally. Its a full Palm but with the GPS built into the system. Excellent but not the cheapest option. Main thing is that Garmin are know for GPS so I consider that its primary function...the Palm bit is good for MP3s and my German/English dictionary.

http://www.gps24.de/ - the guys speak good English and good prices for this kit.

€679 currently. Main cost is the Euro map - these machines are much cheaper in the USA. Do not buy on EBAY - you will get major problems.

I took the same attitude when I arrived...life is too short to be getting lost all the time and asking directions.
