Hi all,

I recently started scrapbooking and have just been to the States to buy a ton of supplies. Now I am looking for like-minded individuals who are either novice or experienced in this and would love to meet up at least once a month to actually accomplish a page or more. Please let me know if there is alreay an existing group I can join or if you like to form a group with me.

Looking forward to many really interested responses and building a diverse group,
Pia smile.gif

What is scrap booking? It is unfair that you do not explain this concept.
and no, I am not going to search this. It is your post, and you must explain.
take care,

Space step back and...relax. As for scrap booking I challenge peggert to not only embrace scrapbooking but use recycled material in their process.

Scrapbooking - Wikipedia

QUOTE (Wikipedia)
Scrapbooking is a method for preserving a legacy of written history in the form of photographs, printed media, and memorabilia contained in decorated albums, or scrapbooks. Historically, scrapbooking was a tradition similar to storytelling, but with a visual and tactile, rather than oral, focus.

In the United States, Scrapbooking as a hobby has taken off in recent years, possibly in part because of its first commercial website. Another reason may be the strong social network that scrapbooking can provide. Across the world, "scrappers" or "scrapbookers" get together and scrapbook at each other's homes, local scrapbook stores, and scrapbooking conventions. Scrappers share tips and ideas as well as enjoying a social outlet. The term "crop," a reference to cropping, or trimming, printed photographs, was coined to describe these events. This hobby has in the US surpassed golf in popularity: one in four households has someone playing golf; one in three has someone involved in scrapbooking.

Hi all,

thanks for the welcoming embrace of my request. I also appreciate the link to Wikipedia. Now is there anyone out there who is actively scrapbooking?

I'm up for it too. I have tons of supplies and a few months to catch up on my book. It sounds like we have at least 3 people now for our group. Does anyone have a big table that we can crop at? I am looking forward to scrapbooking, do you think we can get together this month?
starlite
Hi,
I've never done scrapbooking before, but I would like to come & see how to do it. May I also join?
Nancyta
I have been scrapping for almost 2 years but I consider myself a beginner, so I don't have any problem with starlite joining. We have a big table but also 2 small kids, if you don't mind we could do it at our place in Neubiberg (close to Ottobrunn)

what are these magical 'supplies' ur all on about...and why do you have to go to the US to get them?
Hutcho
It seems people really get into this, like its a sport or something.. I can't understand it..
Elfenstar
i also hadn't realized this was a "sport". i always did this in the past with pics and little tidbits from vacations, etc. i'm gonna put together something for the vacations my bf & i have had these last 2 years. do y'all have an recommended software for digital publishing parts of a scrapbook? what kind of album do you recommend: 3-ring binder or a simple photo album (without see-thru pages)?
jen13
For those of you looking for scrapbooking information on where to get things, etc. I would first try the Walmart here in Munich? But I haven't checked it out. I have been buying my stuff for years from Creative Memories, and there is a lady here in outskirts of Munich. Try www.creativememories.com and go to the international site for the information on who to contact in Germany.

Has it been decided on where or if we are meeting? Maybe we should plan something for the beginning of June?

I've been doing it for years, too, I just didn't know I was scrapbooking. I'm still wondering, though, what the "stuff" is that jen13 referred to in her post. unsure.gif

Edit: Just looked up the site. Very pretty items, granted, but - don't want to offend anybody - they're still basically stationery supplies.
Pirulero
But cost more and look tackier...perfect example of the syndication of hobbies...

ha funny that...it seems I have been scrapbooking for years myself but looking at all that stuff, there is still a quite a bit I could learn/ improve though. Just wish I had the time or patience nowadays smile.gif
Susan
I would be interested in this too. I use to do it when I was younger but am rather out of practice. Anything creative suits me fine smile.gif
tdkwesel
Hmm...I could be persuaded to spend some time, energy...and money on this...when and where?

Are the monthly scrapbooking meetings still on? I've recently switched to cardmaking (ever so slightly more portable) and would love to join. I can also offer up a big table and central Munich meeting place.
CarolinaGirl
I'm interested in meeting up for some scrapbooking. When is the next meeting?
Sarah(Mummy!)
Hi, Moving to Trudering in 6 weeks and have been looking up all the meet ups to see if anything of interest and this excited me. i went to a Creative Memories class once and got enthusiastic, bought some stuff and so far have done nothing with it!
