Our car is in service in Berlin and they told me that the tyre can not be changed because the original locks were changed and the new locks are not provided. We bought the car from an Audi dealer in UK (it was a demo car before) and informed them that we will be in Germany when the servicing is due. They said it is no problem we can service it there. We called them that Audi in Berlin can not change the tires because these are not Audi locks on them - their answer was that we should bring the car to their dealership in England! Cant believe! Driving 1000+ miles to change the tyres.
Now we are stuck, car can not go wit its current tyres, Audi can not change it here unless forcing it open (and likely damage it).
What shall we do now? Is does not seem ethical to me to change these locks without telling us so we can only change tyres at a certain dealership... car people please help.

Have you phoned the UK dealer you bought it from?

Why don't you have the key with you? How would you fit the spare wheel if you got a flat tyre while out & about?
it make-a no-a sens-a!

Are you sure the key, or adaptor or whatever it is, isn't in the same place as where the jack is. That's where they are usualy kept. Yes the dealer should know that, but some mechanics are not the sharpest tools in the box. Have a look.

Ring the UK dealer. I assume you just mean that 1 of the nuts is a locking type. Might find that the dealer gave you the key, or it is in the glove compartment, or with the service manual etc.
Failing that just get the locks drilled out or more likely picked by a decent locksmith. But I cannot see it getting to that.

He's talking about locking wheel nuts, not hubcaps. They're there to stop someone knicking your expensive alloy wheels.

There are three locking wheel nuts and they only provided keys to 2 of them. Yes it was stupid of me not checking it before, but who would have thought that an Audi dealership would change these locks and "forget" to provide all of the keys to it. What if I break down somewhere and cant change tyres... I phoned them in the UK and they were the ones who said to bring the car to them... Today I try to reach the sales guy who actually sold the car to us and will interrogate him about forgetting to mention this "small detail"

So, someone bought a car without the keys to his nuts?

Just use a nut splitter and take off the locking wheel nuts and replace them, problem solved.

I think it would be news if someone actually *wasn't* screwed over by a car dealer.

just use some good old butter and slide them out, KY jelly also works, (when the nuts get stuck).

But they don’t count on the fact that you have the tools and time to remove them without been caught by the cops!
And security device is not 100% fail safe, the idea is to pass the problem to someone else, or make it harder.
Locks only ever stop honest people!
I am sure that someone should be able to get them off without too much trouble, nut splitter, drill, etc.
Is it a simple patterned key, or a cylinder lock? If it is a patterned key maybe sending a pic to Audi in the UK may help them to send you a replacement?

The audi service managed to force open it without damage to the alloys, hower this extra work costed 200 EUR.
The positive outcome was that we used public transport while the car was away and my kids loved it so much that we will continue. Now I dont have to beg my toddler daugther each morning to get out of the house on time, she cant wait to sit on the bus ;-))
try to see the positive side of things...
