Well, Achtung is the gerund (ing) form of the verb achten. That usually translates as respect or observe. So it would be like observing or respecting something in English or possibly attending (from the older meaning to attend to something - ie being attentive). So really, Attention is probably the most accurate translation, but pay attention, or something like mentioned above would work too.

I think attention would sound very odd. Please note (like already said by a few) is imo your best bet.

Off the topic: The word "Achtung" is used in modern Russian slang to mean a gay person. "Achtungi" means 2 or more gay people (well, you did ask for translations).

That would be achtend. Slapping "-ung" on German words is the way you nounify them. English use is the same with the noun "Attention" and not a verb like "attending" or "caring".

The verb achtung takes some prefixes such as be- and miß-, relating to attention or lack thereof.

Up through the 1960's "les achtungs" and "les verbotens" belonged to French slang due to the various affiches under the Nazis in WWII. So "Warning" for Achtung should be appropriate.
