Help! I think some strange bug bit me in the Englischer Garten around two weeks ago ... my ankle was really swollen for a while, then the swelling went down but it is still sore. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Do I need to get a doctor to check it out or can I ignore it and it will eventually go away? cheers.

Amputation. That is what happened to a lady that was bitten by a spider and then waited several weeks to come to the emergency room where I was working. It wasn't the bite per se, but the ensuing infection.

You MUST urinate on your ankle. Only this way can you serilise the bite and provide an antidote to the poison...

Does it hurt when you walk on it? If so, you should hop on the other foot to take the weight off it. smile.gif

The minute you get back to Munich go to Klinikum Grosshadern it is a massive hospital on the U6 end of line that does everything and is open 24hrs.
Maybe Frankfurt has similar.

It'll go away on its own. Just leave it. Whats the worst thing that could happen?

Read this gem for tips: I'm thinking about getting my legs cut off. Then see a dermatologist.

I got bitten in Italy and my foot swollen up something unbelievable, but lucky amputation was avoided.

I went to the local hospital and got lots of antihistamines cream to rub on affected and bandaged the foot and a course of antibiotics. He also prescribed me some dermatological shower milks which he said was better than insect repellent which he says are toxic. According to him the milks and oleated oils are natural and the insects can't get a grip on the skin . Methinks the doc was a bit eccentric. rolleyes.gif To be honest I don't know if really works but my skin has never been smoother and I always pick up a couple of bottles when back in Italy. biggrin.gif
