My phone keeps ringing but nobody's there

I am going to crazy in a minute!!!

For the last hour, my house phone has been ringing every 5 minutes! When I answer I hear beeps every few seconds! I have tried holding to see what happens - nothing it cuts off after about 30 seconds, I've not answered the phone, keeps ringing back, no message left on answerphone aaargh!

Anyone else had this, how do I stop it!!!

call customer services at Deutsche Telekom and report it.

Could be one of those cold call computers and has gone wonky. Do you have caller identification? If so report the number to the Telekom. If not, leave it off the hook for 1/2 hour.

It sounds like someone is trying to fax something to your home phone - some fax machines have an auto retry function so I am not sure how long this might carry on for.

caller id is unavailable! It's ringning again!!! aaaaaaaaaaaarh!!

I've had one of those per day on my mobile for the last three days.

I'd check the TV. Is it on and showing static? Try unplugging, if it is still on than i'd run away from the house

My sons "handy" kept ringing last night - with a different source number each time but no one there. Finally had to turn his phone off.

Did all you people by any chance show interest in working on the documentary on ex-pats?

by the way, theres a new version of that cold calling computer scam/message service going around.

You get a text message saying "Someone (0175-27436XXX) left a message for you. to hear it, text JA1923, or not NEIN1923 to 121923838929" or whatever. texting yes or no costs 1.99.

i know its hard to believe that ANYONE would fall for that, but theres always some hopeless case shouting at the end "but i didnt KNOW!!", so at least now you know.

presumably they leave the last 3 numbers as XXXs so you cant be sure who the message is from and you get all curious...maybe its that girl from last friday night? well maybe it is...
