I agree. Teach me to sign up to the first bank I saw when I arrived. I would change banks in an instant if it wasn't for these two points:
1- I'd have to take at least half a day off work to close my account
2- They have the fucking gaul to charge you to close your account (well, not only for closing but for anything you choose to do)

Back in 1982 all he family was with the Raiffeissen. My brother passeda test and wanted a loan for a car.Was only 5000 dm back then. What a circus that was.He closed the account and went to the SPK.All he had to do was sign a paper saying his wage would be transferred every month.Opened a savings scheme for 96 Dm a month that was state backed and the employer had to pay some toward it called the VWL.As he was beginnig to leave they asked him if he wanted to take the money from the loan with him or did he want it put in his account.
Same with my sister she was with the hippo and wanted a mortgage. No chance, went to the SPK and hey presto.
Been with them 25 years now, no probs on first name terms with the staff find them all very friendly and helpfull. In my case SPK rocks.

Thought this might be a good place to ask this.
Recently got dinged (like ouch dinged) for using my SSKM EC card to take money out from a non-SSK banch machine.
I know there are some "groups" of banks that allow you to use their bank machines without getting dinged, and I was hoping that SSK was part of one but I can't seem to find any info on it?
Anyone know if it is? Or am I stuck with just SSK?
Thanks

SSKM are part of the LARGEST ATM network in Germany called errrrrrrrrm... Sparkasse.

Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, Dresdner Bank, Postbank form the second largest network.
