I read this in the G2 section of the gnaurdian, where I learns me spelink useyouualy, and was talking about this to a couple of people last night. This is the one I thought was a cool idea.

M is for ... milk cartons

Keep drinks cold at a barbecue or party with ice blocks made from empty milk cartons. Rinse them, fill them with water and put them in the freezer. Peel away the container when you're ready to put them in the punch bowl. If you intend to use them as cooler blocks, leave the container in place.

just thought I'd share.

This is an old feature idea; a magazine I read has been doing this kind of thing for at least a year now wink.gif But yes, some ideas they come up with can be ingenious.

If a small child is choking on an ice cube, don't panic. Simply pour a
Jug of boiling water down ts throat and hey presto! The blockage is
almost instantly removed.

Silly!

Suprisingly as I'm old enough to be your Dad this isn't the first time I've come across such a list. tongue.gif

It was though the first time I've heard of the milk carton ice thing and thought it might be good to pass that info on for the future BBQ season. They never though list the one my mum told me, using an asprin to fix a broken suspender clasp (that's stockings not braces before we go any further).

(and I think there is an undercurrent of cynicism and sarcasm, as well as remarks of an unnecesarrily condescending nature in your answer UA. )

Between that, garden uses and jug fishing, my grandparents were using milk containers for a variety of things some 40 odd years ago. Sweet tea with a cube of ice as big as your fist is a found memory of mine.

Dunno about cartons man, but proper good old english milk bottles balanced at a jaunty angle on somehting, with a wee bit of cheese in the bottom - well, they make super awesome mouse traps man, and keep the mouse alive to boot, so you still get to enjoy putting lipstick and eye shadow on the cheeky little fellows. I mean, they're obviously not goat quality or anything, but still, they look rather saucy, dunno why these animal rights hippy fuckers get so upset about all that shit.
