Hello from Karlsruhe

Hi all!
I've just discoverd Toytown and after reading a few posts I decided to join.

I'm from England but currently living in Karlsruhe where I'm working as an English Language Assistant. My contract is up at the end of May though and I'm hoping to stay in Germany after that so am currently looking for a new job (not being very successful so far either.)

I first came to Germany in 2003 for my year aborad as part of my German degree. I was an Erasmus student at the Pädigogische Hochschule Karlsruhe. While I was over here I met my boyfriend. He is German and we've now been together just over 3 years - 2 years of which was long distance. He spent a year in America while I was back in England finish my degree then I was in Austria for a year while he was back in Germany. In September 2006 I came back to Germany to work as a Language Assistant.

I'm not sure what else to say about myself but if anyone wants to know more please feel free to ask.
I hope I haven't bored you all too much!

Yeah it is quite nice. I haven't been to KA yet but I plan to go sometime as a friend of mine is from there so I might just tag along when she goes home for the weekend sometime.

Ah, but you (and the Yankee Elfenstar) HAVE answered: your 40 is CB radio-talk (a black but unavoidable mark on my 70s childhood) for your location. You read me?

And now you're in KA? We have a fluctuating "Stammtisch" that meets every 2nd Tuesday at 8 PM at Flynn's Irish Inn in Hirschstr. Age tends to be mid 30s up, nationality mainly English, but naturally all are welcome. Haven't spoken with a Kiwi (no offense!) in ages...

My husband and I just arrived and are settled in Karlsruhe. Do ya'll from TT get together in town for drinks, sports, or other social things? We are looking to meet new people. (Think we might try Flynn's Stammtisch later this month too).
