Obtaining a Lohnsteuerkarte for the previous year

My tax consultant says I will owe a lot of taxes for 2006 but says if I have my unemployed spouse's Lohnsteuerkarte for 2006, he will file a joint tax return and I won't owe anything. We only moved to Germany in May 2006 and the only Lohnsteuerkarte we can find for my spouse says 2007 on it. If we arrived here in 2006, would we have received a 2006 card? Is it still possible to obtain one if necessary? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, If you regestered in 2006, then you would have gotten a 2006 Lohnsteuerkarte. Yes, see above links.
