I am a lazy bastard socially. But Augsburg is pretty easy for me - 28 minutes on the chuff chuff so I can have a few beers and catch the 23.48 home which is quite civilised. Damn site easier than Munich for me!
So does anyone fancy a night out in Augsburg. School night or weekend doesnt bother me. Food, ten ben bowling or whatever - I cannot pretend I know my way around town.
Just an idea...
Not a bad idea at all, very few people know me in Augsburg so it would be safe.
The ten ben bowling might be hard to arrange, getting one Ben into a bowling lane would be hard enough, but 10 ?

I thought everyone in Augsburg was a "Benny"?
You may be right, do you have a phrase book?

Hi
What's a 'Benny'? And if it's an open invitation, I would be up for some bowling.
cheers

Cannot make the invitation much more open! Regretfully we are looking so far underwhelmed by response that the "big night out" in Augsburg is looking rather too much like a blind date just at the minute.
We at they very least need a chaperone for me.
p.s. "Benny" referred to a character in a popular UK soap series from many years ago. In the programme "Benny" clearly had learning difficulties, so it was used as a childish insult in the playground.

Well as long as the big night doesnt involve me missing the last train back to munich, and assuming I could fit it into my busy social schedule...
Or just wait until the hockey season starts

Count me in, as long as I'm incountry and incash.
Will chaperone JE and rap him on the knuckles if he attempts to do his slovenian Sauna story with hand puppets.

oh right, well failing the big night out coming off, I saw in Szene Augsburg there is an English speakers table at one of the Irish pubs. But now I can't find the details - do you know if that is still happening

According to the
TT member locations map, there are four other members who list their location as Augsburg:
fasthenry,
trevelynne,
thoreli, and
brownskin. The latter three haven't been active for a while, though.
Oh, and there's Johnny English, but nobody likes him

As it happens I have also not been "active" for a while. I also don't like me, but it's hard to get away from myself.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Don't do it.
I went once back in early 2004 I think. Proper bunch of weirdos. We stayed for 1 drink. I know you get a few bums and stiffs at an average TT night - but this was a real losers night out. One of the longest drinks of my life.
Then again sounds like they get a better turnout than we are gonna manage here!!!

For anyone confused by this rather messy thread it was MERGED very nicely by the mods at my request.
Clearly there are only about 0.000000001% of people here interested in Augsburg so the excitement of TWO competing threads was just too much for me.
Hey folks! Thanks for the explanation Johnny...no wonder i couldn't find my thread

I haven't logged in for quite a few days...an Augsburg get-together would be a cool idea, depends what day you arrange it for. I can't make it out on weeknights, tho a fri or sat night is good...Prob in a few weeks though as I'm occupied for the next few.

20 mins out? Are you North, South, East or West of Augsburg?
You know that the compass spins wildly when you enter The Forbidden Zone.

Hi All!
I will live in Augsburg from mid September on - I am interested in meetings, chat , wahtever with native English speakers.
I'm a German guy, and I used to live for 9 months in Ireland and would like to keep my English going as I will be an English teacher.
I'm from the Allgäu which is the southwestern part of Bavaria.
I hope to hear from u soon.

I'll happily meet up in Augsburg. I've lived here for 15 years and often miss the "old country". My business diary keeps me travelling a lot but I will try and make a date if I know it well in advance.
