Hi All,
As an Ex resident of Munich (and Liverpool fan), I was privileged to be in Munich 2 years ago to watch Liverpool win the champions league in an amazing match.
I watched the final at GM's and it was one of the best nights of my life when Liverpool won the game. Not only the the way we one, but the atmosphere at
GMs was amazing.
This year I promised myself that if we beat Chelsea in the semi finals, to get to the champions league final AGAIN, that I would come back to Munich (not exactly kicking and screaming), to watch the final in the same place i watched us win the last time.
We have done it and are in the final!!!
I'm not sure how many original attendees are still in Munich but who is up for it?

I may have a very slight problem taking you up on this. Looks like I will be watching it in my living room, in Eugene, OR with a 7 Pound 10 Ounce bundle to keep me company

Crawlie, time to make a clean breast of it: is that a beer bottle or a feeding bottle you're holding?

Feeding bottle in one hand. Beer bottle in the other... Just need to remember not to confuse the two... I don;t think newborns like the taste of weissbier too much. We shall see... ;-)

Well I believe the final is on Wednesday 23rd ? and as one of the original members of that night, singing along with you, I will be there, and may have to drag my step-father with me, as parents are in town that week.
Come on the 'pool...

The unknown is now known and it is a repeat of the classicl final of 2 years ago Liverpool v. AC Milan.
Milan looked very good today, and I think they will be favourites but am hoping for a game as thrilling as last time (and hopeing even more for a Reds win).

Why waste yer time coming to Munich? Go to Athens.
A) Cost - Have a look at the flight costs from England to Athens around that time (i also might be able to get a business trip out of it

)
B ) Superstition - We were so lucky to win last time after being 3 down, being in the same place for the final again will bring us luck
C) Beer- Hmm Augustina
D) People - Nice to meet up with the old crowd again
E) Trip to Munich - Any excuse!
@Simon more details and photos of your new baby are required

I almost changed my mind in favour of heading to Athens but the flight to Munich is now booked and the Hotel reserved.
I am currently watching highlights of the 2005 game and if is half as good as that one, we are in for a treat (and the final result is the same)
Their squad hasn't changed much over the 2 years but i think Liverpool have definitely improved. We will need it though, they looked very good against Man U.
Kick off is at 20:45CET but coverage starts on SKY Sports 1 at 19:00CET.
@Pepper (or anyone else) can you reserve a table in
GMs for TT so we can get a good view. Last time we were all along the tables on the left side of the bar (when coming down from outside).

I was really unhappy with the quotes from Alex Ferguson before I was told the Man U fans are very unhappy with him also for saying it. They feel that his comments could push Liverpool to try hard to prove him wrong (but i think the champions league final on it own is enough)

Rafa Benitez about the half time team talk 2 years ago
QUOTE
If you need to express something in 10 or 15 minutes and you're losing 3-0 with all the supporters behind you, it's not easy, the main problem is not when you say something. It's when they say something to you because you sometimes can't understand them, especially because of the Scouse.

Well Crawlie Portland's team will face Milan's youth program team in June. From the press release:

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers announced today they will play AC Milan Primavera, the U-21 team of Italian superpower AC Milan, on June 19 at PGE Park, presented by Peroni Italy. AC Milan's U-21 squad will visit Portland on its three-game preseason tour of the United States

Cool. May have to take a road trip for that one. We are off to Portland soon as a friend is opening a new wine store up there and we have to be there for the grand opening. I may be able to get a footie pass out of it..

My manager has very nicely organised a Management meeting in Wiesbaden, which basically I have no choice but to attend. So unfortunately I am now hoping that there do not want to do the nice evening management meal together Wednesday evening, so I can sprint between Frankfurt and Wiesbaden area trying to find a sports bar that will have the game in English, otherwise sitting in the hotel watching the game in German.

Thought about a sicky, but this is a management meeting, so I really should be there. But no fear, I will find a bar somewhere in Wiesbaden to watch the game.

No reservations, and they are opening about 5. I will be waiting outside when they open the door!!
I can't drink as much as i used to as i am now drinking weak beer in England (notice in, not from), so I will be taking it easy (something i am not very good at) until i get some drinking buddies. I will try to keep some seats but from previous experience that will not be easy after 6 - 6:30.
Who's coming? And who's up for a early start?

I gotta stay in. Was happily listening to BBC Radio Merseyside online and then a minute before the kick-off,

Well, Milan now 2 up with no more than 7 minutes to play. Liverpool suffering from their age-old problem of just not being able to score goals. It has happened all this season and last and is one of the reasons why they just have not made a true challenge for the Premiership. I just hope that we invest in some strikers that are capable of scoring week in, week out over the summer or else it will be the same story next year.
On the balance of things I would say that Milan deserve the victory and a somewhat premature congratulations from me goes to them.

May 23 2007, 9:42 pm
noticed (to the untrained eye) that liverpool seemed a bit lost upfront. Is that what you mean by they might be getting some decent forwards?
QUOTE (Crawlie @ May 23 2007, 10:35 pm)

What is the "Oh Dear" comment about Sin?
Well... I am at the disadvantage of not actually being able to see the game live and merely keeping up with various live text commentary, and the overriding impression is that Liverpool were the better team and had AC Milano at their mercy, but for their typical lack of actually putting your actual round thing in the back of your actual net. Therefore
Oh dear means "Oh dear".
Still, Benny must eventually learn that he needs them things what some of us know as strikers to start directing said actuals into aforementioned actuals, innit?

even though we played very well and had most of the possession, i do not think we deserve to say we are the best in Europe.

May 23 2007, 9:45 pm
Pretty much. It has been that way for two years now. Sure, Crouch scores some goals but is very one-dimensional. Kut will never be the prolific striker people thought he would. Bellamy is, well, Bellamy. He should never have been signed. It can not always be up to Gerrard to turn a game around but it that is on his shoulders so often.
QUOTE (Sin @ May 23 2007, 10:44 pm)

I've been saying that for far too long. Mind you, when Tevez finally joins us it will certainly be the start of better things up front.
My money is on Bellamy being given the boot. Fowler is already out but that was to be expected. Kewell will be given another chance to stay fit and Zenden will be another victim of the clear out but I certainly will not be sorry to see the back of him. Now, the question is whether Mr Brittlebones-Cisse will be back or sold? I am guessing we will cut our losses with him.

I think Liverpool were a bit ripped off.
On another day that first goal might have been called hand ball and why did the game end at 2:40 into the 3 minutes of added on time?
You should be getting yourselves a Berbatov or a McCarthy or three.
Eric the Hamster
May 23 2007, 9:49 pm
i agree with simon. basically we have never caught up enough money for a supreme striker. Now we have some financial backing perhaps we can change this. We are not going to get the new Rush from the academy.
