Hi all,
Plan to be in Berlin from tomorrrow and want to go somewhere out in the evening for a beer or two. The idea was to watch champions league semi-finals as well. Do you know any places? Preferably in the centre.
Thanks.

Hi Cerise, this may help.

As for where to watch the games, there's
The Old Emerald Isle and
Oscar Wilde amongst other places...there is no lack of football coverage here in Berlin. You just need to know where to look!

Old emerald Isle in
Kreuzberg, or
Oscar Wilde in Freidrich Strasse.

Thanks a lot! That was fast! Everyone is welcome to join.
Hairy Marys in Prenzlauerberg on Deidenhofer strasse is a great place to watch football. Really cozy place.
The owners Mark & Laura are really really nice people who go out of their way to talk to you and make you feel welcome ..
Infact its a great place just to go and have a drink. Lots of expats visit the bar and some nice German folk too..

Hi, does anyone know if this game is being shown in an American or Ex Pat bar later today in Berlin, please!

Ive been told that Oscar Wildes, the Irish pub on Friedrich Strasse is a hotbed for televised English footy.

Try the Old Emerald Isle too...although there's nothing on their website yet (they are a bit lax with it) it's highly likely to be on

I'm guessing it would be ridiculous to think that somewhere would have Australian football televised?
I live in hope.

The Old Emerald Isle are usually happy to show anything you request as long as there is nothing to clash with it...

When we went to Berlin to play footy earlier this year, there was a bar called Belushi's attached to a hostel . I don't know where it was because I don't really know Berlin - besides, I was drunk when I got into the cab to go there and even more drunk by the time I left.
Anyway, they have Setanta sports and they showed the AFL there that night.

Belushi's is just outside the Rosa Luxemburg Platz U2 U-bahn station. You walk out and it'll be on the Right.

I know this is going to sound v. feeble to many, but... My beloved is coming to Germany this weekend, we're staying in Berlin, and I need to know if there's a pub or wherever that he can watch his team (City) under the mighty leadership of Sven Goran Erikson, take on their arch rivals Man United. Sigh. Any suggestions gratefully received...

Where to watch televised football (soccer) has several suggestions. Unfortunately and surprisingly, I can't promise you'll see many City supporters in the pubs described. Anyone know of a place that's particularly 'City-friendly'?

Hey guys!!!, I know it's kind of out of topic but I'm in Berlin for vacations with some friends and I would like to know if by any chance some of you know any place in Berlin that shows Spanish Football, La Liga? Thank you very much.

Check premiere.de and see if it's on. Then go to any bar with a "Premiere Sports Bar" sign outside and ask. Otherwise, not too sure of a consistent source of La Liga.

Is it possible to subscribe to Setanta in Berlin? The finals matches will all be played between 6am-11am, so even pubs that show it will be out of the question. The pointy end of the season starts next week, so i am desperate to find a way to watch it.

Belushi's, if anyone's interested, are showing the Australian Football grand final, and a few matches beforehand.

Actually, we found out last night that Belushi's won't have any rugby available until sometime after Tuesday. They're waiting on the new satellite card.
In related news...
Belushi's has agreed to play the Red Sox -Yankees game on Friday night (it starts at 1 AM Germany time)...

AFL Grand Final will be on at 6:30am on Saturday 29 September.
Of course you need to check with the pub to make sure they're showing it live - some places like to show a delayed broadcast.

I recently found a way to watch the England football qualifiers on the internet in a decent quality for free because Premiere weren't showing them.
Go to Sopcast.com, download their mediaplayer, install it and launch it. Then you can access all the internet broadcasts on their channel list. The best one is Star Sports in Hong Kong with an English speaking MOTD style prematch analysis and post match roundup. The Estonia game even had the BBC commentary!
There's lots of other stuff too and it's not just sports or football. Now I should be able to watch any game I want, one way or another.

Hmm,
Oscar Wilde for me - was gonna check out the Ceili House, but they never answer their phone and no website!
If you're in
Kreuzberg I'm sure the Old Emerald Isle is showing it, but don't quote me on that (fairly likely as there are no other "big" games on at the same time).

The problem with the Ceili House at the moment is that they are goin to move in about 2 weeks to where the Shannon used to be so they are rather busy at the moment but don't worry they show and wil do this in future in the Shannon every football match.

If you are in the west of the city, go into the shopping mall next to the Memorial Church ( the corner of Tauntzienstrasse and Ku'Damm). Ground floor in the mall there is a MASSIVE bar, often shows three games simultaneously ... and will DEFINITELY show any Liverpool game, as there are a few Liverpool fans that work there and it attracts loads of Reds! Good atmosphere too, all very friendly. You can't miss it, the bar is heavily signposted, both inside and outside the mall. Big wooden bar, does decent food also. PremierLeague, Champions League games are always on, even really dull ones like Bolton v Middlesbrough! The mall is next to a bizarre sculpture that the Berliners call "WasserKlops", it's basically a fountain in the shape of a meatball. Enjoy!

Forgot to say ... the bar next to the Memorial Church gets busy, so for really good seat get there an hour early and have a beer. The Liverpool/Arsenal games will be really popular!

Ha ha! Glad you found what you needed, Caralla!

If your boyfriend is a Liverpool supporter, he might want to also check out lfctv website. It's the official Lverpool website, and if you join ( about £5 per month) you can watch 40-minute highlight packages, plus get live radio commentary on all Liverpool games in UK and abroad. Can be useful if you're travelling. Worth checking out, anyway.

Arrive back in Berlin on April 30th, and Liverpool play Chelsea in the second leg of the semi final that night! Making it more important than life or death to a Reds supporter like myself! So - where are all you Liverpool fans going to see it? I want to be around joyous faces as we book our place in the final!
