How would you say "Medikamentenabgabe" in English?
Supposedly it indicates whether a medicine or medical product is 'for sale' or 'on prescription' (this is a field on a computer system).

If I'm not mistaken it's called "status", e.g. "Does XYZ have prescription or over-the-counter status?" (the latter being the proper term for what your post refers to as "for sale").

I can't guarantee it but I think it's used on both sides of the Atlantic. "Drugs" (of the legal kind), on the other hand, is much more common in the States, in the UK you'd normally use the term "medicines".
