Die Lange Nacht der Musik (long night of music) returns on Saturday 12th May 2007 from 8pm to 3am.

Official Website

Lange Nacht der Musik 2006

The general idea is that it's a whole load of live concerts and musical events all over Munich for which you pay for 1 entry ticket (shuttle bus included).

This year's tickets cost €15 and can be bought in advance from here.

There are 4 'tours' or bus routes - central, south west, Schwabing and east, otherwise the logistics of visiting all venues looks unlikely. A list of bands can be found on the Gesamttourenplan.

Bands from different genres will be playing, including gospel, Brazilian, hip hop, elektro, rock etc.

Have you been before? Will you be going to this event too? Interested in going for the first time?

I can see that there's not much interest in this event, but just in case anyone missed it, it's on this Saturday.
Uncle Nick
I went last year and I enjoyed it.

Well they picked a bit of a bad day for it to be honest.
There's only one lot of music you need this Saturday:

Who's that?

OMG! Earth calling Urban Angel! tongue.gif

You do know that Saturday is Europe's biggest music event, dontcha'?
From Ireland to Russia, From Sweden to Spain, it's EUROVISION SONG CONTEST! cool.gif
UrbanAngel
Ah, no I didn't realise. I don't really watch German television that often! Thanks for the info biggrin.gif

Well, there is a slight difference between the Eurovision Song Contest and the Lange Nacht der Musik, namely: the latter is about music. I don't see much conflict of interest.

The best way to enjoy the "Lange Nacht" is to plan your evening in advance. Study the program online (see links in first post), or grab yourself a copy of the programme booklet (available at places that sell concert tickets), and take some time to select the acts/locations you want to visit. There are nearly 100 altogether, but don't even think of trying to visit more than half-a-dozen events. Even 3 or 4 would be a pretty full schedule.

i guess id be more interested if id remotely heard of any of the bands who were playing - does anyone know any of them?

are any of them good/worth seeing?

"Astrid von Jenny und Fabian Kriner, Naked" seems like the highlight from a quick read through. but im not too keen on seeing Fabian nekkid...the things we endure for art.
UrbanAngel
Here's a list of all artists. Bem Brasil sounds familiar as does Terra Brazil but that's about it! Are they all local bands, or what?
MonksTown
LNdM isn't about seeing headline stars. It's mosty perfromers who do it it amateur to semi-professionally.
Bubble Gum
It would be helpful if they also added genre to that list.
UrbanAngel
They have a genre list too where you can look at the bands by genre.
