Hiya,
in the midst of all those lovely ladies in traditional dress showing off the Macht der Tracht, people wearing something which can only be described as a
porno drindl.
To give you some idea, the website
HeidiSexyWear sells such items.

So nice or nasty?

Hey, if you've got it, flaunt it!
But I reckon 99% of the women trying to wear that stuff either don't have the figure or the character to carry it off, just looks cheap... especially rolling around the Wiesn after a couple af Maß...
count me out! Especially at those prices, €150 for a slip
Katrina
Aug 26 2004, 10:23 am
As Dolly Parton once said, it takes a lot of cash to look that cheap...
I'm not entirely convinced by them, I have seen one on Sonja Krauss and it looked marvellous, but that is Sonja Krauss and she could wear a bin liner and look great.
Unfortunately they tend to get worn by women or girls who are (I'm going to get slaughtered for this comment but what the heck) flatter-chested than the average drindl wearer. Oh that sounds dreadful written down but hell I do think that, sorry.
Lederhosen, particularly the short ones, look very very charming, cheeky and sexy on a slim woman (who generally have good legs), far nicer than a porno-drindl.
Katrina
*waits for the hail of abuse*
PS Herr Indoors hates them with a passion.

I think the designs are cute, but they aren't dirndls, simple as that. And if the cotton is thin, the girls wearing them will look like trailer trash, never mind their figures.

Seen a few birds all dolled up in Bavarian porn gear - can look superb, can look cack. Like all porn gear.
Nothing near as good as a proper dirndl

Angermeier stocks this range and they are sooo flîmsy and cheap-looking in real-life (but I guess some people will see that as a good thing really!).

Katrina
PS Graham, I believe that "specialist" DVDs are available for such tastes *ahem*
gideon
Sep 6 2004, 10:02 am
do you have a link for those "specialist" DVDs?
no, seriously those dirndl's are way to provocative, any girl wearing that is going to end up with half of milan trying to get in her knickers. girls get a nice traditional one, your meant to look like ladies not tarts.

The original film you are looking for is "Unterm Dirndl wird gejodelt (The erotic adventures of Heidi)" which now has mythical status really, it was a sex comedy in the style of "Eis am Stiel (lemon popsicle)"
IMBD listing. It sometimes get shown during the Wies'n though on late night telly.
But put "dirndl+porno" into google and I'm sure quite enough examples will be listed I should think...and don't forget that
Playboy.de does a Wies'n playmate every year!

Hmm, hope I don't look like trailer trash and I never knew I was "flatter-chested"

At least I never got complaints

But of course I have the proper Dirndl as well...
Right, they might not be Dirndl but they are still "Tracht".

Just wanted to make a point that there is nothing bad with the "non-traditional" "Dirndl". I got this in Skandaltrachten, for those who want to get something like that... Only can recommend it.
And of course I have the traditional dress as well!

Bubbly,
you might like that and there is nothing wrong with you thinking that.
Likewise there is nothing wrong with my view either.
In fact, there is an article in the current issue of Bunte on this exact topic showing both sides:

Funnily enough, the short one is worn in the article by Sonia Krauss (see above!), with the traditional dirndl worn by Sabine
Käfer.

Oktoberfest.

Katrina, you are definitely right. I usually love wearing the traditional Dirndl, on every suitable occasion. The above shown Dirndl I only wear for the Oktober- or
Starkbierfest or maybe the Almabtrieb/Viehscheid, where it is just a Party, and sad but true, got not much to do with tradition anymore.
And most important I don't like the name "Porno-Dirndl" as it got nothing to do with Porn! Connecting porn and a dress like that is often understood wrongly and can lead to dangerous situations. And I wanted to make clear that a Dindl like that doesn't say anything about the "availability" of any girl!
All I am saying is that I am very traditional and bavarian and i have no problem running around with a "Dirndl of the other kind"

It depends of course on how you wear it and how you behave in these Dirndls and believe it or not, I haven't had problems so far and the only time I got groped was in a very traditionell dress.
I have two Dirndl (like the below) Which I got from my mum and they are more than 30 years old!!! And I love them.
Katrina
Sep 14 2004, 10:39 am
Hi
the originator of the term "Porno-Dirndl" was Herr Indoors (who is also a Bavarian as you know), I had a list of dos and don'ts of him when I went shopping, i.e. don't come home if the knees aren't covered! They take the topic very seriously from his neck of the woods.
We will have to agree to disagree on this one - just the as the women in the Bunte article do.
Having said that, a Munich-born colleague of mine is even stricter on the Dirndl-law than I am (this is possible) so for our office trip to the Wies'n, I'll be wearing my full-length very traditional linden green one complete with the hunting jacket (so Salzburger Tracht, which he moans about slightly because I don't wear his local one ha ha).

dosn't the 'schleife' and on which side it's tied on say that anyway?
i also think any dirndl is grate, always makes a woman so much more lady like and feminin.

Isn't it right for married, left for single. What about if you tie it in the middle? Or at the back??
Katrina
Sep 15 2004, 8:00 am
Left is single, right is married (as in Germany the wedding ring goes on the right side).
If you tie it in the centre of the back and it isn't a clip fastening, you are likely to be asked to bring beer as this is how the serving people tie theirs!
In the middle will get in the way of your beer.

Show my ignorance here...
What is the official opinion (from German posters please) on Auslanders wearing these traditional Bavarian clown costumes?
Is it kinda like if you have been here 30 years and speak 100% fluent german then acceptable, or is it ludicrous for anyone not born and bred German to wear any of this stuff?
Or is it a kinda free for all - heck its only a flowery dress or a pair of leather shorts so no worries - wear anything you fancy.
And is it a crime against humanity to mix this stuff up - seen people with some interesting variations on theme.
The closest I can think of to compare is with kilts. I have a couple of Scottish mates back home and they grumble about non-true Scots wearing a kilt once a year - especially when they wear the over-formal socks and shoes out drinking...whereas I am told the true Scots will happily wear big working mens boots and short hairy socks for "drinking" etc.

I lived here for 2 months and my Bavarain friends had me at a store picking out a dirndl for me. So I don't think they have a problem with Auslanders wearing them.
Likewise when I had to wear my to work after having my purse stolen, everyone loved that the american (I'm the only non-german) was wearing a dirndl, especially the older people. They all came to say how pretty I looked.

A dozen Ofests ago, wearing Trachten was so "out", only old folks and hard-core Bavarians wore it. Now it's "in" again, so everyone wears it. Just a few short years ago, the thought of a girl in lederhosen really turned off a number of my Bavarian friends, a true case of finding it to be distasteful cross-dressing.

all the girls (and barvarian guys) at work think its great when i and my turkish college put on the lederhosen and get the beers cranked up. funny only the NON BAVARIANS look down on it.

I have a really bavarian münchner colleague who actually banned me from buying/wearing lederhosen since I am a jonny foreiegner.
I ignored him and bought some anyway and he said I actually looked ok in mine (its the blond hair you lnow, makes me look ayrian)
