The largest trade fair in the world will be even larger in 2007!

That means excellent prospects for the world’s number one exhibition for the construction and mining industries. bauma will also set some new records in 2007. There will be more exhibitors and innovations, it will be more international and there will be more synergy. It is the perfect place to gather information about all of the industry’s latest developments. Take advantage of the innovative strength and leading character of bauma 2007 for your success.

bauma, which takes place from 23 to 29 April 2007 in Munich, is said by the organiser Messe München GmbH to be exceeding all expectations. Over 3,000 exhibitors will be displaying their innovations in the field of machinery and equipment for the construction, building materials and mining industries, as well as construction vehicles. All the halls and the entire open-air site are fully booked. Because of the tremendous demand, stand space for bauma 2007 has increased by 40,000 square metres over last time, to 540,000 square metres. This makes the 2007 bauma the biggest of all time.

What this means for anyone looking for a hotel room in Munich this week is: Don't bother. Everything - and I mean everything - within at least a 50km radius of Munich is completely booked out because of the Bauma. Even if you were lucky enough to find something, you'd pay through the nose for it. Many hotels are charging several times their usual rates. The Oktoberfest period is nothing compared to this. The Bauma takes place every three years, and it's always the same madness.

Tell me about it . . .

I managed to book 5 rooms (split between 2 hotels) for a totally unrelated matter for tonight last Friday for 3 times the normal price and only after spending a good part of the afternoon searching.

It's official, it's started and I've never seen (or smelt) so many people in an ubahn in my life ... Ahh the joys of having to get the U2 ... blink.gif

the joys of having to get the U2

...or having to drive on the A94 to get to work and being stuck because of the people going there.

Having said that, I always heard that the construction business is suffering and not making too much money... looking at the types of cars and trucks that were there last week when the Bauma was set up, it doesn't look like those people have a financial problem.

It should be forbidden to attend the Bauma using the u-bahn!!!

Does anyone happen to know if kids under 6 need to pay for entry?

I know one colleague in particular is less than impressed with the autobahns being totally bolloxed at the moment. wink.gif

Yeah, this week A99 has been at a standstill in both directions leading to the A94 as well as the A94 itself. This morning and Monday(or maybe Tuesday, can't remember) it was solid all the way from the A9 to the A94. I guess these feckers aren't happy screwing up the traffic when they're working, they want to do it with their trade show as well! mad.gif

All road/autobahns in and around the Messe/Reim and Haidhausen areas are at a standstill. Even late yesterday the mittlerring at Effnerpl and Effnerstr and Engschalkingerstr were backed up big time.

The jams on the A96 (Lindau - Munich) start about 34 klicks out from Munich. Not fun.
