Ok, so i've been working now for a year, for a company here in munich, and it was a fixed one year contract. now they have asked me to stay and they want to give me a permanent contract, could i ask for more pay?. and is it rude to ask for more pay? i work in finance.

Yes, it's the height of rudeness. You should submit a letter offering to accept a permanent contract but at a reduced rate.

It is never rude to ask for more salary, especially now you are becoming a permanent employee. But you need to calculate your perceived value very well. If you think you deserve it you should go for it, otherwise it will forever be a splinter in your mind.

hell no. you should definitely ask for more money (how much more is a different story). you already have a contract so what's the worse that can happen???

ok, well its not about whether i deserve it or not, its about me surviving better, i currently have no money at the end of the month, and id like to save about 300-400 euros a month.

im currently on 2K netto. and im looking around 2.3-2.4K, do you think thats alot to ask for?.

The answer to every unasked question is always 'NO'.
So, there is no harm in asking. What other benefits will you get if/when you become a permanent employee? 13 month's pay or something else?

Thats a reasonable objective.

1) Does your tax/deductions situation alter when changing from contractor to employee?
2) You'll have to give the Advisory Council here background on your skills/job offer before they can pontificate on whether the demand is reasonable.

i already get 13th pay, living by myself, i have a lot of expenditure, and id like to have a safety net of a few hundred just incase.

There are two ways to put money into the bank:

1) Get more in
2) Stop spending so much.

Sometimes the latter is easier smile.gif
