This is hopefully the start of a wonderful new TT event:
meet up at a beergarden and enjoy each other's company
geared more towards grown-ups with children but really anyone is welcome

The first meetup will take place at Kugleralm nearby Oberhaching (check out www.kugleralm.de) on Sunday, 29th April, 3:00 pm. (In case it rains, we'll postpone it to the following Tuesday, 1st May, which is a bank holiday - same time, same place. Let's meet at the main entrance or for anyone who wants to join later: we'll choose a table towards the children play area and have a little UK flag on the table. Kugleralm is one of those beergardens where you can bring your own food if you wish but they also serve a variety of different dishes - and beer of course ,-) as well as soft drinks for the little ones.

Looking forward to seeing you there. Please reply to let me know who is coming
Grinner
I may just turn up.. thats if my passport arrives in time! unsure.gif

Ukmama, fair play to you for taking to initiative to organise something. Just one point, as far as I know, pretty much all beer gardens allow you to bring your own food.

Yep good on you for getting this ball rollig! Sadly our family Sundays are taken up with a certain sport but otherwise cool idea. As to Keydeck's comment, he's right it is the Law in Bavaria that Biergartens must allow you to bring your own food. Which makes a Family Biergarten trip cheaper on the budget...

My son‘s favourite is Bavarian Chip Butties...

Kugleralm is a classical cycling destination from - I think - Fasaneriepark or Perlach.
I just saw on their site that Sunday will be a big event day with Kindermaibaum, ponies, face painting etc.
Sonntag, 29. April - Kindermaibaum
Ein Tag für unsere Kleinen - mit Kindermaibaum, Ponyreiten, Kinderschminken, Kindertrachtengruppe und Musik von Käpt´n Glück.
Janx Spirit
It's a bit far away from me (Germering) but at least on the same S-Bahn line. I'll see if I can make it, my kids are 11, 9 and 6 and on the day they have:

Sonntag, 29. April - Kindermaibaum
Ein Tag für unsere Kleinen - mit Kindermaibaum, Ponyreiten, Kinderschminken, Kindertrachtengruppe und Musik von Käpt´n Glück. Im Biergarten

Pony rides - my daughter will be smitten and the boys can wear their Trachten (actually, it's probably too small for them now) wink.gif

Edit: sara "speed finger" byrd was quicker wink.gif

Count us in! It would be great to try out a new biergarten. I was also on their website & it looks fabulous. It will be wonderful to have other children around about my son's age (eight years old). Wait until he finds out about the entertainment for the day! Great job planning this.

You have been sarabyr-ed but I do not use the finger dry.gif
I am considering loading our bikes onto the S-Bahn and starting from Perlach; Lohhof to Kugleralm is an all-day trip with no time for drinking.
Keydeck
Sara, I'm probably looking at it wrongly, but on the MVV site it looks like an hour and a half by s-banana, zug n' bus.
Tara
It's a nice idea but I'm too lazy to go that far.

About 40 minutes to Ostbahnhof, another 10-ish to Perlach. Then bike to Kugleralm. Return in reverse order. Set alarm for arrival in Lohhof, nap on the S-Bahn. Lessee what Scogs says to that.

I think we will come! My kids are 3 wee boys aged 7, 5.5 and 3.5 years old!

Should be fun!!

The weather for Sunday looks fabulous! Is this still on?
Janx Spirit
If the weather stays warm and my kids healthy then it is looking likely...
DDBug
I wasn't thrilled about going so far out of town, but the maibaum and pony thing sounds cool. If I don't go here. Will have to speak with the 6 yo and the 10 yo.
starlite
I was looking at the website & it looks like all the Kinder fun starts around 12:00. We plan to be there about 12:30-13:00, but plan to make a full day of it & will easily still be there at 15:00.
MadGolfer
We and our 10 year old will cycle from V Mart on Balan Str, Real Slow, and probably get the S Bahn back from Furth as I will probably be a bit zonked..., we will see.

This sounds great. Anyone interested in riding bikes out there? I have a 15 month old and a bike trailer. I would love to ride through the Perlach Forest. I haven't been through the forest before. I was thinking about riding up the Isar until the high train bridge and then crossing over to the Perlach forest. From there I don't know my way, but will probably be able to figure it out. Its only 17 kilometers. pm me if interested.
starlite
UKmama will you still be there with your UK flag? How will we meet up? I will try to sit close to the spielplatz, but I assume that there will be a lot of families there with alll the activities. Anyone elst with a brilliant plan?
Soulhat Mama
Would have loved to come. Just don't think we'll fit it in between visiting mum-in-law in one hospital and niece in another!
Plus we're going away for a week tomorrow and I need to do laundry (on a sunday - shocking!!).
But if this does turn into something regular we will definitely be up for it!
Have fun.
DDBug
So, who is going? Who do I look for? If I don't know you, what do I look for? We'll ride from the S-Bahn - 2 kiddos (6 and 10) in tow.
MadGolfer
Im a very Large Man, Bright yellow T Shirt with small wife (hasnt decided on T Shirt, maybe nothing at all) and 10 year old in tow with a Star Wars T Shirt.

Say Hi
starlite
We will be there! My eight year old son will have a very bright red Portugal World Cup t-shirt on. Both my husband & I will have on black shirts.
starlite
Also, I will bring a green & white table cloth. That should make it a bit easier!
DDBug
And now I have a handy number! Just in case:I'm wearing a hippy-ish skirt, grown man will be wearing a new york baseball cap, smallest very blonde son has a painted arm tatoo rolleyes.gif (ok, so do I, we were at the mediaval market yesterday), oldest son bears a slight resemblance to harry potter...
JayGee
Not quite sure on the logistics (or wardrobe!) yet - but there is interest in our household for this - mention of pony rides was enough for little-miss.

To anyone who is interested in coming: we are still up for it and will meet as planned. Looks like there are at least three or four families coming. Weather is fab. C u there.
DDBug
first one there save a big table!!!
Janx Spirit
We will be leaving in about an hour. Three blond children in tow, two boys and a little girl. I haven't shaved wink.gif So we'll be on the lookout for a large yellow T-shirt and a green and white tablecloth.
g24
We are just back! Saw Grinner and UNcle Nick, sorry we missed the rest of you! Perhaps another time!?! (my Internet was down this morning and I couldn't get details of who was going, wearing what sad.gif )

I think this was a lovely BG with plenty for our kids to do! Was fun to watch the dancers as well! We will definitely be making a return visit soon smile.gif
starlite
Sorry that we missed you! We left a little after five. It was a wonderful biergarten & it was great to put a face to a login name.
Soulhat Mama
A very enjoyable afternoon. Thanks to everyone we met. (Sorry we missed you g24).
Plus did the laundry before we left the house, visited mum-in-law before we got there and niece afterwards - so managed to tick off all our to-do list!
JayGee
Yep - great afternoon and nice to meet a few TTers.

Our thanks to ukmama for kick starting things.

JayGee & Lindsay
DDBug
We had a lovely cycle ride back - tired kids are now cleaned and dumped in bed - the cleaning bit was really tricky though !!!
MadGolfer
UKMAMA,

Thanks for nice day out today.

A great beer garden and lovely to have met you all even if it was a bit of a long journey - the kids are absolutely knackered! I'll definitely try to get a bbq organised and look forward to the next beer garden meet.
ukmama
Hi everybody, glad you all enjoyed the day. I enjoyed meeting you, so did my children. Great photos, Geoff, txs. How about a second get-together towards the end of May or early June? Any suggestions for a place? Meanwhile enjoy the sun :-)
starlite
Early June works for me, but don't let that stop you from something earlier! I have never been, but have always wanted to go to Michaeligarten. I have only heard really good things about it!
g24
What about just before Pfingstin thingy break, incase folk are jetting off on hols or visiting? 20 May?
starlite
I don't know if anyone would consider a Saturday? Maybe May 19th? I travel on May 20th to the US. mad.gif I hate my mother in law so this is no pleasure trip. But, I totally understand that Sundays are probably a better day for family outings.
ukmama
either Saturday or Sunday is fine for that weekend. (I do my shopping on Friday as I hate the overcrowded supermarkets on Saturdays). Who is in? Which place?
starlite
If it is Saturday, I am in! Just name the place.
