Magners Cider price check

Righty ho, my Vereinsheim (not for profit social club) is gonna be introducing cider soon (I hope) and we need to fix a price.
We don't want to be a "penner absturz" where people just go to get pissed on the cheap but we want our prices at the low end of the market.

I think we should be selling it at not more than €3 for a half litre bottle for psycological reasons.
One (German) pub I know sells draught Strongbow at €3,50 a half litre.

So, how much do you pay for half litre of cider?

Are you talking about those long neck type bottles or a proper pint bottle?
3 euro for a pint bottle would be quite cheap.

I think in Kilians and elsewhere, the pint bottles are somewhere between 4,50€ and 5€. The smaller longnecks are 3,50€, if memory serves me. Cider is more expensive because it's bracketed with wine, not beer, afaik.

0,5 litre bottle, not them rubbishy 0,33 ones.

BTW, this is for a bone fide Vereinsheim that is NOT in competition with the English speaking pubs in Munich, I'm not doing a price war or owt.

Not that you are in comparison, but for interest's sake, Günther's is 4.90 for the half-litre, if I recall correctly.

Pachmayr, the distributors of Magners, according to their website only stock 330ml and pint bottles, so i would assume that you are being supplied with pint bottles at your verein too.
3.50 for a full 568ml pint works out at 3.08 per half litre, which is only a shade above what you were thinkin of selling it at anyhow.

Maybe mentioning the price per 500ml in brackets could increace the acceptance of that extra 50c over 3 euro?

Kilians Magners is €5,20 for the 568ml bottle!! I bought it cheaper at Pachmeyer to drink at home!!!

g24, how much are Pachmayr looking for it then in the shop, or do you have a wholesale account with them?

Pretty sure it was €2,50 I bought it just for me!! BUt I wanted more than they had in the shop! (wrong, wrong I know ) If you want to buy a case it's best to call them first to kinda pre-order it as they only had 3 bottles on the shelf when I went! I think they heard me scream in Glasgow when the guy said it was all they had. However a little feminine charm and sheer desperation got me a case from throught the back!! Fantastic.

Mind you, I still brought 8 cans back from Scotland last week for one pound 38 each!!

In almost all locations in Munich, Magners pint bottles are sold as a premium brand, between 4.50 and 5.50 Euro.

The ritual of serving over ice also helps increase rate of sale and volume as well.

On sale in a couple of days for € 2.80 for a 330 cl bottle.
Not as dear as the Irish pubs but not as cheap as the cheapest pub I know for draught Strongbow.
